I have been using the Verizon Text Alerts for over 10 years to get Today in History and a little thing called Wacky News. Sadly, Verizon has decided to end this service even though it will be like the end of the universe...

Whatever_, don't let this be the end of your world! There are several different sites that offer wacky news. I'm not sure which one came thru the phone before. Try using Google to lookup Wacky News and see if there is an option to subscribe to a specific site.
