RANDOM TEXTS MUST BE STOPPED! HELP ME PLEASE!!
Burtonrider777

Ok, I have been using Verizon for something like 6 or 7 years now, and I love it. The ONLY complaint that I have, is that ever since I have had a cell phone with Verizon I have been getting these random text messages from people I do not even know. Most of them are from like NUMBER@VTEXT.com. Occasionally it will be a completely random area code and then just the seven digits like a normal number, but someone that I have never heard of or anything in my entire life. At first I considered it coincidence, But over the past couple years it has been getting so bad that I get like 50-60 EVERY day, and each time from a different number, which is why I can't simply block the numbers, it would take me a lifetime to block every single one. I have even changed my number, it helped for like 10 hours then they were at it again. I need some help to stop this problem as soon as possible or I do not know if I can keep using Verizon because it is just way too frustrating to keep putting up with. I have been putting up with it for a long time now, and I am just over it. Help me please!!   : )    Thanks!

Have you called Verizon to report the messages?

What is their content?  Do they seem like spam, or like someone who has the wrong number?

You can also use Spam blocks to block ALL texts coming from vtext.com - Go to your account at MyVerizon, click the safeguards tab, the the Internet Spam blocking tab.  There you can block all texts from email addresses or all texts from the internet.  See if that cuts down on the spam.

They are like the wrong number. They are always saying the most random things. Example: the last one I got said this "Suzy has to be at the doctor's office by 3:00, don't forget to check the mail!". So they aren't really spam messages, it's not like advertisements or anything like that, it's as if someone sent the text to the wrong number, but its 60-70 times a DAY. So I know that the wrong number theory is not right, there is something else going on here. There is no way that many people can have the wrong number that many times a day. No way.

Have you called them and asked them to stop?  Even if it's coming from several numbers, it would be worth a call to each of them.

Oh I mean it's not just like from 3 or 4 or I definitely would. I am talking 60-70 different people every single day. Not just the same 60 or 70. 60 or 70 different people every single time, every single day. If I called every one of them I would spend my entire day calling these people, I simply do not have the time for that   : (   thanks for the advice though. I really need to get this problem solved if Verizon wants to keep my business. I've taken it into them before though, they act like they don't even know what could be wrong with it. It's ridiculous.

Now that is strange you changed your number and it didn't stop for long.  I can see someone maybe typing in a wrong number but 50-60 people doing it no way.  Will be curious to see what this is about.  If it's even people contacting the wrong person when you don't answer back you would think they might realize something is up or of the person they are contacting does not get back to them they have to wonder why, very strange.  Mary

Don't go into the store, CALL tech support. Often times when you go in a store you are dealing with either people who know how to go about solving the problem but are too busy to do so OR some kid who's been working there for 3 months. Dial *611 from your phone and follow the prompts to tech support. They will be able to see the texts coming through on their end and see that it's an issue. They should also be able to solve the problem. If they can't, simply explain this has been an issue for too long and you would like to speak to a supervisor because you're not hanging up until the problem is fixed. The key is to be nice, but firm. I talk to these guys every day and that seems to be the secret to getting things taken care of.

What I wonder is why after number was changed it didn't stop for long, how the heck did they all get the new number.    Do cell signals get crossed or something?  Mary
