I am orginally an Alltel customer who has been merged now in the Norfolk, VA area. I keep trying to send texts to my friend and he is getting about 25% of them. He is on AT&T. He can get texts from other people just fine, but I believe they are also AT&T customers. My phone says they are sending just fine but he just isn't getting them. We have both rebooted our phones and nothing. Also I am getting all of his texts just fine.
Anyone else having this issues and is there anything I can do?

I do not know if Alltel phone can do this but if so do the *228 opt1 ( I am assuming you have an altell handset) .
I do know that this merger has created a lot of problems in areas where they are transisioning the towers and switches for both Alltel and VZW people alike from what I have been reading.I do not think this is a handset issue, but totally 100% network one. Unfortunalty filing a trouble ticket, AND get the number for reference as well is the only resolution for this. I have seen them say that there is no problem, but i believe there is since I see a lot of people have the problem.

I am having a problem sending and receiving texts from a relative who has Verizon. When they text me, it returns an error that my number is a landline. My carrier is GCI, a cable company here in AK. I do not get errors, but the texts I send out are never received.
GCI reports that it is Verizon blocking the number. Verizon says it is probably because my carrier is a cable company. I can send and receive to other carriers, just not Verizon.
Any thoughts?

I am having similar problems. I was an alltel customer - always had great service. Now with the switch to verison we cannot receive text messages from verison customers only from former alltel customers. We do have one phone that has a different exchange that can get messages from people with verison. Our exchange is in an area that had some customers that went to verison and some to another carrier. I have been on the phone with verison since Tues (July 12th), first was told it was the tower and that would be fixed in 24 to 48 hours. Then I was told there is something else wrong. Put in a ticket on Sat but haven't heard anything. When I try to get an update on the ticket they say they are still working on it.
We are very frustrated and are tired of being on the phone and getting different answers from different people. Hope it gets fixed soon. I would change to a verison plan and phones but it will cost me more money.
