Blackberry service required?

We have a blackberry phone that we would like to give to our daughter but don't want the blackberry service - just the phone.  Can we reactivate this phone and select a service but NOT add the extra $20 per month for blackberry services?  Thanks

Hello and welcome!   The short answer is no.   You cannot have a Blackberry on Verizon at this time without the built in data plan.   The lowest cost plan is now $79.99.

Unfortunately DarkCobra is correct, you cannot activate this phone without having a data plan.

Also remember that this is NOT because verizon wants to make more money. It is because the company RIM which makes blackberry, get capital for your blackberry. Allyour blackberry info goes to the RIM server when you connect to the web. Blackberry always tries to look for the rim server no matter what carrier it is on. Just to clear that up in advance.
