VZW Galaxy Nexus Peers and Customers,

I have a Samsung Galaxy Nexus phone with VZW and I share in your frustrations. I am utterly disappointed in VZW’s lack of support for Samsung Galaxy Nexus phone owners and their lack of customer satisfaction for Samsung Galaxy Nexus phone owners. I am so frustrated that I filed a Better Business Bureau (BBB) complaint against them. In my complaint, I voiced my concern regarding the VZW Samsung Galaxy Nexus being put at security risk for malware and viruses via apps or email. In the latest Android 4.2.1 release from Google, they improved their security and safety functionality within the new Android 4.2.1 release. Being that VZW has not implemented the new Android 4.2.1 release, nor have they voiced their support or plan to VZW customers about employing the newest Android release, they are putting the VZW Galaxy Nexus phone owners are risks for potentially harmful activities.

Now I know that we as VZW customers have responsibilities for making sure we take safe precautions to limit our chances for getting malware and other virus on our VZW Galaxy Nexus phone; however, VZW has the greatest responsibilities for ensuring their customers are supplied with the most recent security updates to minimize the chances of their customers becoming infected with harmful malware or viruses.

I was told growing up that “Silence is acceptance”. The reason that I filed a BBB complaint against VZW is due to the fact that I DO NOT accept the fact that they are not supplying me with the most up-to-date security features in my VZW Galaxy Nexus phone OS. Our mobile devices touch the World Wide Web daily, and there are plenty of malware and viruses that want to make their way onto our mobile devices. If our computers and Macs are supplied with the most up-to-date security patches, so should our phones. VZW is enabling us to attract malware and viruses onto our VZW Galaxy Nexus phones by not employing Google’s Android 4.2.1 release.

If you share in my frustrations, I ask that you file a BBB complaint against them as well (if you have not done so already). The BBB complaint takes less than 10 minutes to complete and it raises the awareness that VZW is putting their customers are security risks for identity theft and other personal information theft – such as banking information and email information (personal and business alike).

Our voices are powerful. Voice your concern and DO NOT accept the risks that VZW is endangering VZW Galaxy Nexus owners to!

***As quick note, I spoke with a VZW Executive Relationship Specialist as a response to my BBB complaint. One of my ending questions to her was “So you are saying that I have to stay at risk of becoming infected with malware, and my business and personal emails will stay at risks of being compromised?” Her response was “Yes sir, that’s correct.

Now they can’t deny that because VZW recorded our phone conversation. Talk about concerned customer service.***

I'm with you. I'm aware of the language in the contract that we all signed, but VZW's handling of this device is grounds for class action. I am so infuriated.
