The new policy states you can exchange your phone free of charge for 1 of 3 phones. Droid X, Incredible, or the Samsung Droid Charge. I just left the store and will be receiving my Charge by mail and am sending this paper weight back within 5 days. If you like the Samsung platform I would jump on this offer to get the Charge before they get rid of the policy.

On 7-8-11, Verizon Wireless implemented a POLICY on the Fascinate.  Whenever a new policy comes along, all 80,000+ employees are not going to be aware of it immediately.  Not that it's excusable, but it happens from time to time.

 

If you go to a Verizon Wireless CORPORATE store, and they are unfamiliar with the process, I will post info to guide them on the new policy.  I cannot post the policy because I could get canned, but I can post how to get to the policy. 

 

Where is this policy? There are 2 ways to get there:

 

1) Open up InfoManager.  In the search box, type in: "Samsung Fascinate Not Receiving Calls."  This will bring up several search results.  It's the first result that shows up.

 

2) There is an OST article number for this information.  The OST that can also be typed in the Infomanager search box is 70946.  This will bring up several search results as well.  It's the first option.

 

Things to note:  This missed call issue is intermittent. 

 

**There is no fix for it.  It can't be master reset, updated with new software (at this time), battery pulled, *228 update, or network troubleshot.  It does NOT need to be duplicated in-store for a replacement as it is intermittent.  Sometimes it happens. Sometimes it doesn't. When it's a known intermittent issue, we should NOT need to duplicate it in the store. **

 

I hope this helps someone.  This is applicable to Verizon Wireless in both the stores and over-the-phone tech support.  Customer care cannot process these requests over the phone. You MUST speak with tech support.

Chriss, good afternoon. Was this process easy for you? How long does all of this take? The Charge would be awesome, it is the most like the Fascinate. Did they give you a hard time or did they know about the issue?

I put the ED05 Leak on my phone and it is Completely fixed it all Issues are gone and it is running like a Champ

This Solved my problem

 Now all we have to do Is get Verizon to release it

The new software is out!  ED05 is being released starting today!  Please update your phone whenever possible.  Here's the link for for software update details.  

 

Here are some highlights:

 

  • Improved to properly receive incoming calls.
  • After sending a multi-recipient SMS message, single-recipient SMS messages will send correctly.
  • SMS message reply is sent to the correct recipient.
  • Google Books is now preloaded.

 

If you check for new software, and no new updates are available, please try again the following day. Thanks for your patience on this.

No no no no!!! This problem still have not been fixed! I still experiencing missing calls and missing texts!! I'm unemployed and I've been missing a lot of important phone interviews because of this problem. I need my phone fixed for finding job!! Verizon have been treating me like a ping pong ball too -- first I called the 1800 number and got approval that I can change my phone to Droid Charge (I insisted to get this phone as replacement since I love the clarity of the screen in Samsung phone (that's why I bought Samsung Fascinate in the first place)), then they send me to the store, the store making me call them 4 days straight to see if they have Droid Charge back in stock, and when finally they have it in stock I had to go to the store again to "get" my Droid Charge ...BUT nope, no Droid Charge! All I got was ED05..and it still didn't fix anything! I called 1800 number again (2 weeks ago) and the tech support updated my phone and I even agreed to reset my phone to the manufacturing state. And again it didn't fix anything! I called again today and got another "updates" and right after I called verizon..I got 5 missing incoming calls and 2 texts!! I asked the tech support (1800#) what they can do to with my phone and they said I can only get a refurbished Samsung Fascinate. :smileysurprised: That's it?! My warranty can only replace my phone with a refurbished phone? So after a looooong battle and  many lost phone interviews, at the end I still have to pay $80+ for my bill every month and I'm still stuck with my broken phone or a refurbished phone. I guess this blog is my last place to go since I do not know if anyone else in Verizon is care enough to help me :smileysad:

The policy has changed about exchanging your fascinate phone due to Verizon feels that the updates has fixed everyone's fascinate issues, but as your read through these numerous posts, their are still several users having problems with their phones even with the new updates. It fixed some, messed up some and others did not do a thing for them. I have been saying that Verizon needs to allow us fascinate users the one time option to allows us if we so desire to be able to purchase a new phone without waiting when it is your time to get a new phone with the upgrade price

I just got a Charge as a replacement for my Fascinate because of the missed call problem. You just have to be persistent...ED05 did NOT solve the missed call problem. A new Fascinate will NOT fix it. Moreover, they agreed to send you a Charge...even if it's past the end of the "promotion", VZW ought to honor their word. They did for me (like you, I too was promised a Charge and got ED05), and props to them for doing so, so I hope they will make it right for you too.:smileyhappy:

You are very lucky mesocyclonic, I went to Verizon store again today and beg them to honor their words about the Droid Charge they promised me. The tech support guy called the 1800# and at the end he said I can only get refurbished Samsung Fascinate. He said the way Verizon works is that they have to give out a couple (2 to 3) refurbished phone first for us to test it out if it solve the problem  before giving us different model. Also, the tech support mentioned that to change from 3G to 4G is a complicated procedure and that's why they reluctant to do it :smileysad: So they're going to send me a refurbished Samsung Fascinate. I am very tired of calling, waiting, explaining, begging them to fix my phone. I guess if this refurbished phone still not fixing my problem I might going to drop Verizon. Anyway, enjoy your Droid Charge! You deserved it! :smileyhappy:
