to summarize the lollipop mess

after spending way too much time reading on a variety of forums about this lollipop S5 problem, it appears there really is no solution.   The lag is crazy, the battery life sucks, it overheats, etc etc   Possible solutions:  clear your cache - done it twice, no help    factory reset - did it, no help    So we are at the mercy of Verizon?   Samsung?   who to get an update for any of these problems?    the whole situation is very close to driving me back to iPhone, which I left because I felt android was a better operating system, but at this point, my android phone is minimally useful.  My iPhone basically always worked.   Any word on a time frame for an update, a solution, anything?????

lcolien68,

It's certainly alarming to hear that you're having so many issues since this update. We want to make sure we get your phone back into tip top shape and working great. After you did the factory reset, did you restore your apps from the Play Store? Have you tried the phone in safe mode http://vz.to/1Ea5XxF for a time to see if that helps at all?

The update is horrible, whoever QA'd it should be fired.  I've tried all of the suggestions to no avail.  This is the first Android I haven't rooted because it did everything so well.

Have you checked for the new Lollipop 5 update for S5?

I'm wondering if you can get it, article seems to infer that it may not yet be available to existing Lollipop users.

I updated to Lollipop a little over a month ago and have had nothing but problems since.  I have restarted, deleted cache, deleted a lot of apps and nothing seems to work.  The lag is a huge issue and my phone will completely restart and shut down on its own.  Just trying to navigate my phone is an absolute challenge.  I can't imagine how this update got pushed out with this many issues.  I'm not sure if this is an Android issue, Samsung, or Verizon but it's terrible and has me waiting for a fix or looking into leaving altogether (that's leaving Android, Samsung and Verizon).

I have researched this issue and it appears many people are having the same issues so I am hoping someone can give me an idea of when I can expect an update or what my options are at this point.

Compare your version to those in the sammobile link and see, it seems like Verizon is pushing the update just not sure if it is going to existing lollipop users yet.

Like everyone, I had terrible problems with Lollipop, version G900WRU1B0A8 but upon hearing about the new update today, I searched for it.  I downloaded it today, the new version G900WRU1B0C4.  I figure it can't be much worse, but I'll update when I've had it a day or two.

Glad to hear the update is available to you, the one article mentioned they couldn't get it for an already Lollipopped device.

Please do keep everyone informed.

The article is wrong. It is definitely an update to Android 5.0. So far devices seem better. Just "Check for system updates" from within Settings to force it if it is not offered automatically.
