Markmurphy, losing you as a customer is the very last thing that we would ever wish to do. Updates are created in hopes of adding features and value to your phone. We are truly sorry to hear that in this case, you are still experiencing issues. Allow us the opportunity to get to the bottom of those issues. Have you been able to attempt the phone in safe mode? Other than the software update, do you recall adding anything new to the phone recently? When discussing the sluggishness, do you find that this happens specifically when using any particular application or when on or off Wi-Fi?

We value the feedback from all of you. There are multiple reasons why a device might experience battery drain after a  software update. Typical reasons for battery drain include, but are not limited to: low/marginal service (This requires the device to check the  network more often.), multiple applications being run at the same time, screen brightness/time-out and apps that require  background data. We recommend that you restart the phone in safe mode Restart in Safe Mode - Samsung Galaxy S7 / S7 edg...   and/or perform a factory data reset  http://spr.ly/6586DWlwu...  the device and  reintroduce applications one at a time, observing battery drain after each one is installed. After the reset, please ensure  that Google Play Services are updated to the latest version.

MISTHERD17, I just sent a Direct Message in order to gather more more details on your voicemail not working properly. We believe there is a fix that does not include leaving us. We'd love to have you stay with us.

I have tried all the recommended fixes and I can't help but wonder why we can't have the ability to revert to the previous OS. Getting new bells and whistles is all fine and dandy but when it makes opening apps lag and makes the phone unusable, it is a worthless effort. I didn't really want the update and probably should have read the complete text of the "system update" but I have seen it in the past when it was more about security features and not a complete new operating system .

JarheadBiker,

It's essential for you to always have access to your apps and data. I know I depend on mine daily. I am concerned to learn you are having trouble with the phone lagging and opening apps since you completed the last update. We can assure you a software update is necessary and not something that should not make your phone unusable. Let's get to the bottom of your device issue so we can get it back in good working condition.

What is the make and model of your phone? What is the OS version? What happens when you try to launch an app (error message/details)?

Unfortunately, you can't go back.  You're experiencing the issues these major OS updates cause.  This is exactly why I haven't updated my phone for nearly two years.  I'm still on Marshmallow.  The only issue I'm having is excessive battery usage, which I can live with.

I've been with Verizon for over 18 years and a loyal Samsung customer since my Galaxy S5 and even after they recalled my Note7. But it may be time to cross over the dark side and get an iPhone from AT&T.  This latest Android "update" is the last straw. Why would you REMOVE awesome FUNCTIONAL features that people obviously use?

1. Night clock removed (functional)

2. Always on Display clock background - gone

3. Customize notification sounds for messages, calendar and email - gone (functional)

4. Change LED colors - gone

Not to mention all the little annoying things like changing the clock font to some ugly crap, and changing how your events are highlighted on the calendar widget, and the visible line on the Edge Panel, and the many more that I could live with. But I can't sleep with that big clock but need to be able to see the edge clock when I wake up, and I need to know if what I'm getting is a text or email or alert without having to look at the phone.  These are conveniences that I'm used to, these changes are ridiculous. I am livid.

The link you gave was for iPhone. Obviously that didn't help an Android device.

We never want to see you go. An update is always supposed to improve your experience with your device. We appreciate the feedback. We would like to guide you to submit more feedback to Google support about the Android updates and the features removed. We would still like to work to see if we can help with any devices issues. Let us know if there is anything we can do for you.

I'm having the same battery issues that have been reported.   I've cleared out the cache as was recommended but no help.  Battery is now dead by lunch unless I run power saving mode.  then I can make it until early afternoon.  Used to be fine until 11 pm on 1 charge.  Verizon needs to do a better job testing these updates prior to rolling out.  You've made my phone nearly useless.  May be time to change carriers.  I'm very frustrated!
