last update made sd card unreable

The update I received on Friday to fix blue tooth issue made my sd card unreable. it says unsupported/blank card and its asking me to format it. No way I am going to do that. Lost all my photos on the phone. Luckily cloud caught most of it and they are still on the card when plugged in computer.  I wont format the card, because I had this issue before with previous provider and formatting the card wont work, Only way to fix it is to get a new card. THANKS! Next time ill make sure i'll take the card out before going thru an update.

sd cards don't come with the phone..your card failed & not because of the upgrade.

I know the card don't come with the phone. And it was working just fine before the update. Got the update and it acts like it's not there.  So yes the update screwed up my card. 😕

Yes! The update did kill the card. And I'll bet your phone won't read a memory card either. Anyone who hasn't had the problem will deny that it can happen. It happens!

So when you take the card out of the phone and put it in a card reader it doesn't work either? Weird mine is working fine after the updates. Even after reformatting the card in the phone it still doesn't work? If a new card works fine then maybe the update did screw it up but I have had cards just die for no reason at all update or not so who knows. Mary

On another site, people with a certain size card were able to get it to work in their phones post-update. It might be size / file system type related. It could also be speed / class related.

32gb card was working great before update and stopped working after update.  My pc can read the card and contents just fine and write files as well.  i have a spare 8gb card that my phone is able to read, but that is not large enough for the content I have on the sd card (about 20Gb right now).  My buddy has an S5 and has not had problems, post update, with his 64Gb card.  I tried his card in my phone and my phone reports it as a blank card.  thinking it might be the card someone, I even bought new 32Gb card with the same results.  PC can read it fine, phone can not.

Verizon tech support, worthless as usual, suggested to factory reset my phone.  The tech was even brazen enough to say 'i am positive this will fix it'.  Well, it did not and now I have a phone that needs to be setup again and STILL can't read my SD card.

the update does not appear to break the SD card, at least in my case, but the update sure did wreck my phones ability to read a larger SD card...

This sounds suspiciously like at a low level, the phone's card reader hardware or firmware are not all alike for the same model. Call Samsung and report what you did about the cards not readable on your phone but ok on your friends. Very odd.
