To update or not ????

I am getting an S4 and after reading a lot of posts sounds like there are some serious issues with update

I haven't received mine yet but when i do i do not want to have issues

from what i gather 4.22 has little or no issues

The 4.3 update is causing issues for some not all

the ones who aren't having issues what steps did you take after update was pushed  wipe and clean install .... or nothing  at all just accepted the update installed it no issues ???

Those having issues what procedure did you take

My personnel experience with android it strongly advised after an update is to wipe and do a clean install a couple times to make sure any and all remnants of old os is gone.

That said developers have ported 4.3  to the s3 s4 with no issues only difference they stripped out touch wiz

Try keep the response intelligent  and on topic and not flames

as our devices progress they get more complicated and the variables are astronomical which add to the problem of resolving issues

Samsung has a PC and Mac app that can back up restore and repair their devices

If you are getting a new S4, when you activate it, you will be upgraded to 4.3 anyways.

I updated 2 weeks or so ago and I have not had any of the issues spoke of.

I normally do a master reset after an update, but have not needed to this time around

I haven't had any problems from this update (which is to version VRUEMJ7, in response to your question in a different thread). I didn't do anything special, just took a deep breath and accepted it. I was worried, having seen some of the problems others had. But knowing what might go wrong, I checked those issues (WiFi, charging, etc.) after the update and found that I wasn't affected.

It is important to bear in mind that what we see on this forum, Android Central, and elsewhere, is (reasonably enough) the things that go wrong. Not many people are going to take the time to post, "Hey, I got it and it's OK." So the magnitude of the problems here may seem a little out of proportion to the reality. However, enough people have had enough serious problems that Verizon, AT&T, and Samsung have all taken notice. Too bad they didn't do enough testing to find the problems in the first place!

I consider myself fortunate, not virtuous, about this. It seems to be pretty much of a crapshoot--unless somebody wants to make a database of every app and configuration that's on every S4 that's had problems and see if there's something unique that they all have in common.

That it is! Glad the update has gone smoothly so far.
