Samsung Galaxy S4 problems post update.

I want my old phone back please.

Since the update I've had the following problems:

1. Phone freezing. By this I mean when I awake or power up my phone, the icons I want to use do not work at all. Texting, contacts, even answering the phone-they don't work.

2. For some strange reason, the phone reboots itself for no reason at all. It doesn't matter if it is day or night, 3pm or 3am. It will just reboot itself.

3. My Wi-Fi will disconnect itself.

None of this happened prior to the update.

It is VERY annoying.

Thank you.

My phone is having similar issues -

Screen freezes

Can't make calls

Shuts off whenever it feels like it - including when I really need my phone

The best part? The representative at the store said he couldn't do anything about it even though it's in warranty. Why am I paying Verizon so much to put up with this?

AlexNC,

I don't want you to have these kind of issues with the cell phone. I want your phone to be working when you need it the most. Did you recently do the software update that came out to the phone? Have you tried to place the phone into safe mode to see if it will work any better: http://vz.to/1FdqEXO try that out for a few hours and keep us posted.

Ccobb513,

Yikes! Let's see if we can help out with that battery life. Do you use the option for Power Saving mode? You can always turn that one by going into Settings, My Device, turn on Power Saving Mode. Then let's check to see what is using the battery. You can do this by going into Settings, More, Battery, and what are your top functions that are using the most of the battery? Let us know.

So, lastnight I went to bed, my phone battery was at 94% woke up this morning,  phone had shut off because the battery was dead. I have had it set on "power saver" since I made the update. If I look at what is using the power, it says that 84% is being used by "android os"

Thanks for the update Ccobb513. Let's get to the bottom of your battery concerns. I have verified this is not a known issue with the device after an update.  Do you have any applications that are constantly running? Is there any physical or water damage to your device?

Thank You,

Ccobb513,

If your battery problem was caused by the NG6 update (the one before the most recent update called NK1), you are not alone.  There are 100's of posts here from folks who have had the same problem.

The only thing we can wait for is the *Spring update* to Lollipop which has features dedicated to saving battery. Nothing released so far prior to Android 5.0 has been fixing the battery issues.

I agree. I am still having constant battery problems. Phone gets hot and drains battery. Sometimes overheats when charging at night. It appears to be related to wifi use, but I can't figure out how to fix it. If I turn off wifi the battery life goes back to almost normal. If I turn off wifi and data, it seems to last forever. This wasn't a problem before the December update.
