SG3 wont pick up 4G LTE

Hi,

I have been using the Phone Info app on the android market to toggle 3G and 4G on my S3.  Now my phone wont connect to 4G, it stays locked in CDMA mode.  Is there anyway to fix this?

Thanks

I have the same problem, and it just started today. I first installed the Phone Info app when I got my GS3 last July and there was no LTE service at my home yet. I used it to limit the phone to 3G so it wouldn't constantly search for LTE service. Shortly after LTE came to my area so I really wasn't using the app to set it to 3G. I have checked the app settings and had it on CDMA Auto PRL, which I believe was preferred to let it find the appropriate network and connect. I even uninstalled the app and have checked the phone's network settings and tried both Global and LTE/CDMA and it still only connects to 3G. I know I am in an LTE coverage area because it has always been available since soon after getting the phone, and confirmed with a friend's Galaxy Stratosphere where he had LTE and I had 3G at the same time and place.

Anyone know how to fix this short of a hard reset?

LTE/CDMA should be the correct setting unless you are traveling outside the USA, then it's Global.  Have you tried turning off your phone, removing your SIM card, waiting a couple of minutes, replacing your SIM card, and rebooting the phone?  This forces it to re-find the network and authenticate you as a Verizon customer.  Also a cache clear/partition reformat should be tried before a full factory reset.  And in the end a Factory reset and/or a new SIM may be required.

Thanks for sharing what you did to try to resolve this issue. My first thought was to remove the application, but I see you have done this. Please boot your phone into safe mode to see if you can connect to 4G that way http://bit.ly/T4KnSp. If no change, remove battery and SIM card for about 30 seconds. If still not working, it sounds like the application disabled settings in the phone that are unable to be changed easily. I recommend completing a factory reset http://bit.ly/P75GGe.

Let me know if you need further assistance.

I have to say that the S3 has been by far the worst phone I have ever owned on Verizon. Personally I had 6 replacements

before i bought the Note 2 retail from Verizon. As I posted in a different post, it has to do with the hardware in the S3. The 4G

radio isnt built in to the motherboard while the 3G/EVDO/1X is. This cause there to at times be interference with the Android

OS. With the Note 2 on the other hand, everything is built as one, when it was first released, I was having similar issues with

the 4GLTE speeds/ coverage. With an update to the phone, it fixed the problem BECAUSE the 4g radio was intergrated with

the built in 3G/EVDO/1X radio.

I haven't had any problems with the S3.  Picks up 4G LTE with no problems at all. Updates ran smooth, no problems at all. I haven't downloaded any apps to switch from 4G to 3G, etc., think certain apps are the main problems with a lot of the phones.
