How is this assumed answered? Just last night we had the sirens going off in our town and not a peep out of our phones. Thank God my Granddaughter was here. Her phone went off ( Iphone ) and she is on Verizon too. We have S7 edge's and neither one of them went off. Last alert I got was a Amber Alert in January and the last Extreme alert was in March 2017.

I hope you are okay, kathy65793. I know how important it is to have these alerts. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is the agency that distributes these Wireless Emergency Alerts. Verizon Wireless does not determine the content of the alerts, when the alerts are sent, where the alerts are sent or which device receives them.
I recommend possibly using a third party app that will alert you regarding weather. I use a third party app that alerts me when there is dangerous weather incoming.
Laineybug24, I wanted to be sure I provided you with an answer as well. I really do hope this information is beneficial.

So what are you saying that Verizon has nothing to do with this but it is Fema that sends it to my phone?

Kathy65793, as you always do, you make an excellent point. How does FEMA know what our cell numbers are to send us emergency notification? The answer is FEMA doesn't know what our numbers are and they don't send the notices directly to our phones.

That is correct, kathy65793. Verizon Wireless does not send these alerts. You can learn more about Wireless Emergency Alerts here: https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/wireless-emergency-alerts-faqs/
I hope this information is helpful.

this is definitely a verizon s7 problem, when everyone in the room gets alerts except you, and yes i have them all turned on. they used to work but an update broke it somewhere along the way.

I understand that FEMA initiates them, but doesn't Verizon have responsibility for transmission of them? When I my phone is less than a foot away from my daughter's Pixel, in our home, and her's goes off, mine should too. I am in the same area, at the same time
