My Samsung S5 Text Messages Are Garbled/Scrambled *without emoji or emoticons*

Why would my text messages show up scrambled without any special characters used? I think it only happens with multiple recipients selected (i.e., I don't think these are SMS, just MMS(?)). My keyboard selection is Samsung keyboard, I believe.

Also, the VZ page automatically forced me to select "In a Place" and defaulted to iPhone 4. I don't own an i4. Unfriendly move, VZ. Why can't a post a general question? Why must I select a place?

It's important to me that your text messages are working properly on your Samsung Galaxy S 5.  I would like to further assist you in resolving this texting issue.

Are the garbled messages appearing in your text message inbox or these messages you are sending to other recipients that are received garbled?  When did this problem begin?  And what text messaging application are you using to send and receive texts?  Please let me know so that I can further assist.
