Has anyone gotten the latest update for the S7 and S7 edge? From what I have read it is supposed to be the security update and should not be a problem. Well that is what they are saying but I guess we will see if it is true or not. Good Luck!

Read the posts here.  There have been all kinds of problems with the Nougat update.  For this reason, I am delaying installing it.

Sorry jrh4054 I am referring to a security patch they came out with Today. It was only supposed to be about 210 mbs so shouldn't cause that much trouble. As for the Nougat update I understand that there has been a whole bunch of problems with that. I was one of the lucky ones that did the update with a minimal amount of problems. It is really a shame that doing an update on ones phone could be such a disaster . It really is a roll of the dice where some have a problem and others don't. Thank you for the concern thou it seems to be all good.

I updated this morning with the latest patch. I have many missing apps after the update! For some reason, they were uninstalled from the phone during the update. What a joke this has become!

Details on the update are limited to simply security-related with no specifics. Post-update the phone stands at the May 1, 2017 patch level. I encountered no issues installing the update or since then. But, as always, unfortunately, YMMV.

It's nice to see a security update that isn't tied to major Android version update and was actually released the month it was applicable to.

So far, Evernote(subscription), Firefox, Boom beach, CCW(subscription) a Ton of pictures that I moved to folders on the SD card(!!! ) and a few games. All uninstalled. I can tell more are missing, just haven't had time to rack my brain.

I thought that a simple security patch wouldn't mess a phone up... I now know I was wrong. I take it that you did not make a backup of your phone with Smart Switch or some other backup software. I always backup before an update but I must admit I didn't do one on this update but you can bet from now on no matter what they say the update is I am going to backup first

I checked to see if my Firefox install had vanished and it has not. I scanned through my other installed apps and can't find anything missing. I also checked the photos and files from internal storage and my external SD card. Everything is present.

Unfortunately, updates seem to cause issues for some people and not others. I find the situation where people report randomly losing user-installed apps, pictures, etc, to be highly perplexing. I completely believe this is occurring but there's just no explanation and I have yet to see anyone come up with one.

Hopefully, you are able to recover the lost images and such. While I never want it to happen I always keep my data synced through Google, Verizon's backup service, etc. Redundancy isn't a bad thing but the fact is we don't want to ever have to need to worry about it.

Note: Some apps can/may be removed during an update at the discretion of Verizon and/or Samsung when it is one that was sponsored/bundled when you purchased your phone. Samsung discontinued their Milk Music service, for instance.

I applied the latest update and have no problems. Wifi reconnected, there are no missing apps and the phone is just as fast as before the update.  The only thing I do on these security updates is unmount and remove the SD card prior to installing the update.
