im not talking about the vulnerability im saying i got a email from samsung about the firmware update lollipop 5.1.1
wich it was puch to all carriers for the galaxy s6 and edge. t-mobile push the update to all there customers already sprint too and i think att too i will have to check but i havent got any answer from samsung about the STAGEFRIGHT VULNERABILITY Yet
but guess what? i dont care what verizon do or samsung any more i get my iphone tomorrow
T-Mobile still hasn't pushed the 5.1.1 on devices Verizon has pushed out. Samsung doesn't do them all at once and if a rep said they already gave it don't believe them... Most low level reps will NEVER know. Get it from some higher up willing to put their name on it.

Mass hysteria...now this foolishness was on the news.
this is no different than the iPhone text bug, a lot of fuss for nothing as long as you take basic care

This is not a carrier problem. This is an operating system problem. Simple solution do not open mms files that you do not know what is. Also get virus protection on your phone. There are many good free ones. This is nothing to worry about. Google will address this and get it fixed soon or maybe all the text apps will get this problem addressed. But pointing a finger at the cell provider is wrong. They did not make you pick an android device.

I believe that you are downplaying the severity of the vulnerability as well as the carrier's role in making patches available: http://www.forbes.com/sites/thomasbrewster/2015/07/27/android-text-attacks/

And vulnerabilities like this is why Google needs to push for a deal like Apple has with both the phone manufacturers and Verizon. This crap where we can't get updates directly from Google for the OS and have to wait for God & Country to "take a look" is why Android has such fragmentation.

The update to the security flaw was released for sprint and att. So now they have updated security and 5.1.1. Verizon is showing they don't care about their customers. And if you get hacked they will say its not their problem or fault. Maybe time to get the same phone from a carrier who cares about their customers or keeps them in the loop.

The ONLY way that could happen... Android goes to CLOSED SOURCE. Google can pass the patches to the manufacturer, but here in the states we blame the carrier even if they don't touch code. Apple controls both hardware and software. They also don't release updates until ALL their devices are finished giving off the fact it's timely. Having different manufacturers and different development teams means different times things get fixed. Also different manufacturer have different skins and such.
I wanted to add only the Nexus 6 for Nexus devices have been fixed. No other Nexus seems won't get fixed until Android M if they release it for that specific Nexus. so who knows. I have a 4, 5, and 6 and I tested it on them and only the 6 was unaffected(all 3 are on 5.1.1). When I flashed the preview M then all were not affected.
