I realized the volume of the speaker is so low that I am missing phone calls. I also use the speaker while on phone calls for hands free calls. Is there anything I can do to helps boost the volume?

MzMillie,
Sorry to hear about the trouble with the speaker volume. Does adjusting the volume change the volume levels or is it a static volume no matter where you place the volume setting? http://vz.to/1sb6rSl Do you have any case on the phone? If, so does that problem persist with it removed? Try resetting all settings and retest: http://vz.to/1sb6Fsy . Back to normal?

My regular volumes are up all the way. Also, I took the cover off & it
didn't make a difference.
My cover isn't a phone enclosed cover but a regular cover.

MzMillie,
Thank you for testing! When you play music on the device do you notice if the volume is also low? Do you issues with volume when calls are not on speaker phone? Any issues with volume when using a headset?

The music on speaker and through the earphones works fine. It is only
happening when I try to use the phone as a speakerphone.

MzMillie, we appreciate these details. Is there any physical or liquid damage on your device? Did this issue recently just start or has the volume always been low since you purchased the phone?

I just received my phone as an up grade on my Verizon Edge plan no a week
ago. There is no damage & the first time I used the speaker was yesterday.
When I plugged in my earphones I actually dropped a call & when I called
back the same number is when I noticed there was a problem with the speaker.

Thanks so much for the insight, MzMillie. Does this occur on multiple calls in different locaitons?

This morning I attempted several calls to different numbers from different
rooms in my home with the same results.
I only noticed this yesterday, but I'm sure going outside is not going to
make a difference.
I even unchecked the noise reduction in settings to see if that would make
a change, but nothing changed.

Got it, thanks MzMillie. Have you tried turning up the volume while on a call?
