1 1/2, maybe 4 years depending on usage. Battery life can be extended by not letting the phone get below 30 to 40% on a regular basis. Battery replacement starts at ~$50.00 depending on the phone & location. Here are some good tips.

The worse thing I see people do is stick by the outdated and wrong practice of letting the phone go all the way down to 0% battery before recharging. This may have been a good practice with old NiCad batteries but it is the worst thing you can do with modern lithium batteries. Don't let the battery deplete and don't keep the battery on charger.
