How do I tackle "Insufficient storage space"?

I've got a Samsung Galaxy S4 and have run out of storage space.  I've deleted all the apps and media (pictures and music) that I can.  Looking at "miscellaneous files" under the storage I'm wondering if I can delete all of these safely or if they're needed to run the apps. Surely there's something that can be done. Please help!

You tackle the problem by installing a SD card, then move all the apps, music, photos, and videos that you personally installed to the card.  You will then free up the necessary space you desire. Leave those misc files alone unless your want to brick your phone.  I used the S4 this way for 3 years and never had memory problems.  By doing this all your app updates will go to the card leaving your internal memory with sufficient space to install software updates to your operating system.

We know its important to have enough storage on your device Berrypi61. There are stock apps and files on your device that you will be unable to remove. The phone will not provide with an option. You can also move files from the internal storage to an SD card.

I know there are stock apps and files on my phone but surely they're not taking up ALL the space in my "miscellaneous" files!

When I am alerted that X number of apps need to be updated and I go to Update, I get a message that I have "insufficient storage" and am directed to "consider deleting apps or content you no longer need and try again" with a button that says "VIEW STORAGE."  This takes me to "Storage Settings" and "Device Memory."  On the screen, I see headings for "Applications, Pictures, Videos, Audio (music, ringtones, podcasts), Downloads, Cached Data, Miscellaneous Files, and Available Space."  I would be happy to provide the amount of storage under each heading but "Miscellaneous Files" is taking up 6.82 GB!  Surely, some of this can be deleted, can't it?

Two questions:

1.  Is it safe to clear "cached data" that will clear cached data for all apps?  What are the ramifications if I were to clear the cache?

2.  Under "Miscellaneous Files" I see headings like: amazonmp3, aquery, .face, yahoo, null, Temp, tag.html, Saved email, pers.  Can any of these be deleted without affecting the performance of the phone???  I only have 479 MB of space and cannot update ANY applications!

dont do any sys files in misc it might brick it, and clearing cache is temp fix because cache will always rebuild again, and need to clear all the time.sadly unless you got sdcard on it, or need larger size, only uninstalling not needed apps will help.one day hopefully we will be able to use the cloud for apps and problem solved.
