Applied "Wipe Cache" and S4 just did a silent rreboot.

Otherwise phone appears quicker and more stable but not a complete fix.

It's not "rare"!!! It's all over your message boards.  Battery drains fast and gets very hot (one time I had to pull away from my ear... yeah, that hot) may have been solved by clearing all my system and application cache.  Still drains faster than before, just not "as" fast until I did this.  Still unresponsive home screen after unlock and reboots several times a day.  Overall more sluggish than prior to update. All of this started immediately after NG6 update.

Verizon, there are two options:

1. Apologize and offer way to fall back to previous firmware version.

2. Apologize and provide a fix.

The Verizon support boiler plate responses aren't working. Verizon, you obviously have a major problem here.  Don't blame Samsung and Google.  You pushed it to my phone.  Fix it!

I'm not going to go through the trouble of backing up all my data then re-transferring all of my data after a factory reset when this shouldn't have happened to begin with.

A couple dozen threads don't equate to problems with the millions of the phones for this model that were purchased. The majority of the phones likely don't have issues.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Typing this as my phone reboots on its own for the 8th time that I know of today.  Millions of phones - unknown number of NG6 updates performed - unknown number of people that have called verizon to report issue - unknown number of people that have emailed verizon to report issue - unknown number of people that not done anything yet does not equal millions of unaffected users. Only users that are savvy enough to use forums are posting here.  I'm sure there are phones unaffected but to say millions aren't based on a couple dozen threads here is not accurate. IF a third party app was causing the problem, then restoring to factory defaults would fix it and it has not in most cases.  There is obviously, without a doubt, a problem with the NG6 update.

2 weeks into my very first smartphone ever (Samsung Galaxy S4), & I'm firmly responding to each "Update now / Later" prompt by pressing the little "back" button at bottom right of my phone. (So new at it that I don't even know the button's name). While my S4 has some minor weird little glitches (mostly in typing, esp. when going back 'n forth between typing & mic, where cursor will jump randomly to earlier part of paragraph), at least it works pretty well -- or very well -- & from what I read here, the ng6 'cure' is far worse than the 'disease', if any. I hope I can put off this defective so-called "update" indefinitely.

And Verizon's placating assurances here & implications that this is a 'rare' issue make me want to henceforth refer to VZW as "Sirius Cybernetics Corporation". #shareandenjoy

PS-  For what it's worth, my Galaxy S4 manual says my phone has the 4.2.2 version of JELLYBEAN, not KitKat.  Manual was sent to me for free by Samsung, but I believe it matches my specific phone as I told them all the appropriate numbers. Don't know if this (it being Jellybean 4.2.2) is pertinent in affecting the likelihood of it experiencing glitches / crap in this defective ng6 update. Just thought I'd mention it.

I have been experiencing the same issues for several days and haven't had the time to correct the issue. I ended up having to complete a full factory reset to fix some of the issues.  I still noticed that my WIFI would be randomly disconnected and also that I couldn't connect to any of my bluetooth devices.  I booted into recovery and wiped the cache partition and my device seems to be fully functional.  However, it seems significantly more laggy than before when opening apps or even swiping through menus.

Very unhappy to have to invest what little free time I have into fixing an update full of features I don't care about.  Those other carriers offers to buy me out of my contract are looking more appealing.

I am STILL having issues...I've been searching online for answers since the day this update was forced on my phone. Just because someone hasn't complained doesn't mean they aren't bothered by it....VERIZON FIX OUR PHONES!!!

If you look online, the ONLY solutions that are actually working are people who choose to root their phones, which voids all the warranties...this should not be something we have to do to have a reliable phone!

JenniferH_VZW,

Rare cases?? Are you kidding?  Have you not read the hundreds of posts about the NG6 fiasco?  This is anything but rare.  This update has screwed up phone after phone, but while admitting the widespread problems with NG6, VZW and Samsung still haven't come up with a fix.
