Has verizon or samsung told anyone when there will be an actual fix to the incurable ng6 update that is causing power cycling?

Miembro

My Samsung galaxy s4 is randomly rebooting after the ng6 update. Anyone thinking about leaving Verizon after their inability to recognize there is even an issue? Verizon doesn't seem to understand that the trouble shooting techniques don't work. Verizon the update is the problem! I'm going somewhere else. Verizon is a joke!

We appreciate you reaching out to us, txman01. We want your phone working great after the update! There have been some rare cases of this trouble reported after the update. Please place your phone into Safe Mode using the steps below:

Power off Device

Press Power button and wait until you see Samsung logo.

Press and hold Volume Down button until device boots up.

Once the device completely boots up, you will see safe mode text in bottom left corner.

If it continues to reboot while it's in Safe Mode, then removing a few applications or completing a reset (Settings > Backup and Reset > Factory Reset) will resolve the trouble. If it does not continue to rebot, then use the Software Repair Assistant at http://vz.to/1t2u9zt to stop this pesky power cycling.

I am having the same problem. Also, all apps are slow and screen is locking up. Hoping for a fix in lieu of doing a factory reset.

The factory reset is always VZW's standard fix for issues like this.  You people don't get it!  Read the posts involving major issues with the NG6 update, and other system updates for that matter, that have caused widespread and major problems. It isn't the phones causing these problems.  It's the updates themselves.  Why do VZW/Samsung force these updates on us when they cause these problems?  If you can't fix them before they're pushed, at least let us indefinitely delay their installation.

Seems you need to start thinking outside the box.  Refering to your Support Services Manual and repeating the same advice to all your customers experiencing grief over your latest update just isn't cutting it. It would appear that the solution to this problem to to stop sending out the update notifications until such time that you can perform some regression testing so not to turn your customers phones into bricks in the future.

How about the fact that updates are tested on phone that were factory reset and work perfectly fine? Try it sometime. You might just have a working phone then

If you read the community posts you would see that in most cases the factory reset doesn't work.

If they don't work do a Full Kies or Odin flash

Posted Samsung answer under another NG6 thread.

Samsung Tech suggested "Wipe Cache Partition".

Too early for me to confirm if solution works but I still have my Apps and Data.

I just tried that with mine and so far so good. Still early to tell but the phone is definitely more responsive and I keep putting the phone to sleep and turning back to see if it worked
