"Say Samsung has glass breakage issues, Verizon sells the units knowing this and then sells them anyway. Since Verizon does not repair the devices, that would leave Samsung on the hook. But if Samsung tells their sellers not to acknowledge the defect, the poor customer gets the short end of the stick."

I signed the petition but  it was for replacing S3's with screen problems.

UPDATE! My case is settled and I am satisfied.

Here's how everything played out.

I needed a working phone immediately so I filed a claim through the insurance. I received a brand new Samsung galaxy S4. Then I continued to deal with Verizon to get compensated for using an insurance claim for a defective device. Here's the agreement we got to:

- $99 credit for my insurance deductible

- $13.33 service credit for the time I spent without the Galaxy

- $46 credit for insurance premiums (So that I can insure through an additional company. This way I don't lose a future claim).

I would have preferred Verizon to hand me a replacement phone but I do think this is a reasonable solution. I have my phone and have not taken a loss on equipment or insurance or service.

I am going to stay a Verizon customer for now because the customer satisfaction score for ATT is even lower and I am going to ride my grandfathered unlimited data plan out for as long as possible.

Lisa, I have had this issue 3 times!

Let me digress. I purchased the galaxy s4 phone without a contract. I loved the phone and all its features. Three days after purchasing the phone, I reached into my pocket to answer an incoming call. When I looked at the screen, there was a green flicker. Stunned, I held down the power button to reboot. No luck. I took out the battery, no luck. It was then that i inspected the screen of the device and found a tiny crack on the internal lcd screen. I was beyond upset because I had just spent $400+ on the device.

I called Samsung and asked them about the issue and they said it was "not and known issue". So, I paid $179 to have the phone fixed.

Several weeks later I received my phone. After a week of having the phone, I went to answer a text and there was another crack on the internal LCD screen. I WAS SO UPSET!

I spent hours on the phone with Verizon and Samsung. I was promised call backs from supervisors that I rarely received. In my conversations, there was not a known issue of the lcd cracking. They said the would be happy to put a "request" to have the phone replaced instead of fixed... I asked how likely it would be that I would have the phone replaced. They said all they can do is request the repair.

After many conversations, I decided to bite the bullet and pay a "discounted" rate of $100 to have the phone fixed. So, I caved in with the thought that I would sell the s4 and stick with my old s3.

After roughly two weeks I received an email saying there was a shortage supply of screens and that the repair will take a little longer to fix. after 3 weeks I received my phone. This was the dilemma.. Do I sell the phone and take a $279 hit for the repair? Or, do I trust that the request for the replacement phone went through.. So, I plugged in my sim card and started using it again....

Guess what? IT HAPPENED AGAIN! A week later. Small crack on the screen under the glass. No defect of any kind! It reached into my pocket to answer a call, and there was green screen flicker.

I was livid upset! I called Samsung and spoke to several people who said it was my fault. That the phone was NOT defective and there was not a know issue. They said the users pocket is not approved storage for the phone! They also said that only samsung cases are allowed to be used for the phone. There was nothing they could do.. They offered me another discounted rate of $120.

I was so upset I put it in the drawer and it has been there ever since. My only hope is that someone will settle a class action lawsuit about this issue. I dont know if it was my device or all s4 devices, but no advance phone should be that fragile to where it cannot be stored in the users pocket.
