And yes, it is about principles.

Again, if you had noticed it when you opened the box and before you started using it that would be different but that's not the case. The theory you mentioned about the Otterbox case may be something. Especially if the case fit too snugly. A friend chipped her iPhone screen using the wrong Lifeproof case (she has an iPhone 6s Plus and used an old iPhone 6 Plus case. It was a little smaller and was advised against but she thought they were just trying to get her to spend more money on a new case) so the possibility isn't far fetched at all. I'm sorry but in this you really can't expect Verizon to split the cost with you or anything. The phone is cracked and you have to choose which way you want to get it taken care of. As mentioned, AT&T very well may not pay for your switch with a damaged device but you can always verify first to see if using their Switch and receive up to $650 is an option. If not then you are left with keeping phone as is, paying the balance off and moving on (even with a crack you can probably sell it for a decent amount), paying insurance deductible, or paying the $299. Good luck with whatever you decide to do moving forward.

And if it's about the principle then you wouldn't be happy with any carrier because you would be in the exact same boat if the same thing happened. Just something to consider

I'll pay the 299 damaged price instead of 700.00 for the phone. Thanks for your input...I think.

I'm sorry that you don't like what you're being told but it's best you hear the truth.

So I got the phone on 3/14. Can you tell me what day it needs to be postmarked by FedEx? 3/28 is on a Sunday. So would it be 3/27?

This is not true with any phone. I bought a Iphone an IPHONE 6 PLUS ...3 days my daughter was strolling down the phone and it cracked all the way across it. Called the 800 we care verizon line and they told me to take it to the store. The store denied my claim said i would need to pay the insurance deductible to get it fix. I was furious I went home called apple they made me a appointment to go to their store about a hour away. Apple hooked it up to some kind of computer and good for me the computer tells them if the phone has been dropped or misused. They hooked me up with a new phone right there. Verizon doesn't stand with their customers they are out for the buck. Period. The more they get the better. I am a 12 year customer and I am tired of being treated like I am not the customer that i owe them for allowing me to use their service even tho I pay dearly for it.

All I know is that I did not drop it. The case I got is an otter commuter case for the galaxy s7 and is very tight. If the phone is that fragile it certainly is not worth 7 or 800.00 dollars. All I'm saying is there may have been a blemish or fragile spot in that corner. But all the blame is put on me.
