Battery issue on S5

My phone will not charge, does not communicate with the battery and discharges very quickly. It suddenly stopped charging past 20 % a week ago, then stopped altogether. It has failed to recognize it's own charger since I got it. It has corrupted 2 micro SDcards.  I've  purchased a  new battery and followed all Smart care recommendations after performing a factory reset (the phone's  second in a 5 month period). The phone continues to drain power. It has never been exposed to liquids, has not a scratch on it and has only been outside it's Otterbox for the occasional wipe down. I just want to get it running well enough so I can sell it to recoup some of my efts. My Verizon experience has been as buggy and unreliable as this dreadful phone and I'd like to move on with my life. Can anyone please help me?

Selling a broken phone will come come back to bite you.   Almost every online sales avenue has a complaint option to recover money in a fraudulent sale.

Just go buy a replacement phone And switch your SIM card.

Thanks for sharing your gift for the obvious.

Might you have something to add along the lines of how to fix the phone so I could pass it along in good faith? Or why you think it is "broken" beyond repair?

You have 90 days warranty on a warranty replacement phone.  Which I'm sure you already know.

You can keep sending it in till they get it right.

Also obvious?   Yep.

Now you know why I buy my own phones, never from the carrier, and I am very careful with them, case, screen guard, etc.

The phone malfunction is just the proverbial straw. But in a way, all the

problems go back to the phone. It's a long, tedious, complicated story but

the upshot is my billing was changed and promises were made to correct it

that were never kept. If you want the story in detail email me directly.

So, it's not just the phone, but the phone did pull me into a Verizon store

which I know now to never, ever do. Since I can't get my account back to

its original state and have had to do yet another factory reset--it's time

for me to move on.

Anyway, I'm here for technical advice, particularly about what can cause a

power drain like this. I replaced the battery but the power drain and

failure to recognize the battery are still an issue. I think replacing the

USB port is next since that's the the biggest design flaw in the phone. I'm

hopeful a new daughterboard will reconnect the phone with the battery. I

run on wifi the majority of the time and while that has been buggy it's

never been this bad. My fear is that even if I replace the port and start

wirelessly charging it, that without identifying the original power drain

it will just continue to be a problem. I'd like to be able to sell the

thing in good working order.

Is there a diagnostic ap that can run on less than a 100% charge?

There are probably apps you have installed that keep the phone awake.  Try using Wakelock detector or Watchdog and see if any apps are keeping your phone awake(95% of the time wake locks is what kills a battery).

Thanks. Anything at this point is bloatware since it's been factory reset.

I only reinstalled Ap Killer and NU Battery Saver. I'll give Wakelock a try

to see if that narrows it down.

App killers will kill your battery quicker.
