After 4.3 update phone doesn't work

After the update I can't connect to the VZ network.  True in safe mode or otherwise.  Says "checking for service".  Reboots don't help.

Device software updates are intended to provide customers a much better smartphone experience!  Let's work together to ensure that's what you have, a much better experience.
