Received a replacement Samsung Galaxy s3 and I am trying to reactivate it. followed all the steps and all it keeps bringing up on the screen is a buffering sign with the word Activating next to it and its told me to restart the at least 3 times in now a 16 hour process and I'm making no head way here. Any ideas?

Just bought this for my daughter and tried to activate it last night. I get the same thing. Verizon rep told me last night it may be a faulty sim card OR that too many people are trying to activate it at the same time. I doubt it's the latter as I tried for hours last night and again today. Seems to me there is more to the story...

My friend bought five iphones, activated them all within minutes. No sim cards with those. So one would assume it is a sim activation problem, not just an activation problem.

How do you get your iphone to work with Verizon without a sim card?

If it's not an iPhone 5, you don't need a SIM.

If you are activating a replacement, you should be able to just drop in the SIM and turn on the phone. If that doesn't work, you probably be a new one, and will either have to order one, or go into a store to pick one up.

I don't even see a place for a SIM card on IPHONE 5. The sales guy said I would be all set when the gift was given and gave me the activation URL. But the error message says NO SIM card. I have a SIM card # - I don't get it and losing interest fast.
Thanks for any help you can provide!

See the little hole on the side, it's where the SIM card tray is located. Here's a Youtube video showing how to open it.

PS: Shouldn't the last part of this discussion be in the Apple iPhone 5 forum?

Perfect response - voila! Fixed.
PS. For those of us who've never had to search for tech support, you end up where you end up - I couldnt tell you where I was --it was in the results to my question.
Thanks again!
