The battery dies when it shows plenty of life left. How can I fix this?

The battery will show more than half the battery life left but then will shut down and continue to try to turn itself on until I plug it in. This started with the last upgrade I think.  Is there a solution to this problem?

wt4433, we want you to have options to choose from when getting a battery. Let’s look more into this. Please run the mobile diagnostic on the phone through the My Verizon app. My Verizon Mobile app>Support>Run Device Health Check. Let us know what you find.

A power cycling phone is no friend of mine wt4433. Let’s gather more information here and find out what is going on. You mentioned that this started when you did the last upgrade, was this a software upgrade? When did this happen? Are you using the original charger that came with the phone?

Thank you for replying.

It was the software upgrade to 5.1.1 in Feb 2016.  I am using the original charger that came with the phone.

Have you considered getting a new battery for the device?

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Yep, may need a new battery. How old is the phone? This is typical behavior of a lithium battery at the end of it's life cycle..

Be sure you order a Samsung original OEM battery.  Many on Amazon are fakes.  Also, this is why I didn't upgrade to the Note 5 and the note 6 better have a user replaceable battery option, or I will look to a different manufacturer.

Yeah, get a new battery.  Verizon has pretty good prices on genuine Samsung Note 4 batteries.

My wife, myself and my daughter all bought our note 4's around the same time. At 12 months they died at around 10% battery life, at 15 months it died around 18-20% and at 19 months all 3 die around 28-30% with no warning. Hmm mm what's it going to be like when it's 24mths (2yrs) ???? Maybe turn phone on and dies at 97% ???  Lol.... Samsung/Verizon needs to replace battery for free! Heck the phones still under lease payments??? Strange how that works... that's not right.

I want to make sure that your battery life lasts Yachtman. What is the make/model of your phone? Does this happen every time it is at those percentages? Is your device http://www.verizonwireless.com/support/software-updates/ software updated?

Just be thankful you have a user replaceable battery. They are becoming a rare breed these days.

You can extend battery lifespan by routinely not letting it get below 40%. Constantly draining below 40% will significantly reduce the longevity of the battery.
