Note 7 Recall & Verizon

I am new to this community thing, however, I needed somewhere discuss how I feel about this whole recall thing, So, I guess it is kind of neat. However, from what I have read here, as many of us Notes 7, Note users are extremely disappointed with the recall in the first place, maybe it is just me but I feel as if I am not being treated fairly with the whole matter, I am not sure how the other carriers are handling the situation and trying to accommodate their customers, but Verizon is definitely not making the process any easier.

Just as everyone else from my understanding has received the exchange process benefits and requirements email, I was under the impression that when I exchange the device I would be able to choose any device, at no charge, at the time of the exchange, as some of the others, I upgraded and set up a payment for the Note 7 device on myverizon.com At the time of doing so I had to pay the sales tax for the device. No big deal, but now that I am required to exchange the device and was informed that since I made my original purchase online, that it would be more convenient to make the exchange online as well.

So my point in all this is, that in the process of doing so I am expected to pay the sales tax on the new device of my choice at checkout, however, I am supposed to have $100 credit, and the sales tax will be refunded once they receive the Note 7, If I already paid taxes on the Note 7 at the time of purchase, and now I have to send it back, and still I am required to pay the sales tax on the device I choose as well, how is it that I am being credited anything, Rather, how are they going to refund me the taxes paid when I ordered the Note 7.

I am extremely frustrated about this, so I do apologize if I am not clear on my entire point here. Overall,  I feel that Verizon alone has become very unsatisfactory in their customer service, especially to those who have proven themselves as loyal customers.

every time you upgrade or buy a new Phone you are required to pay sales tax and $100 credit only apply to if you get a Samsung branded Phone like S7 or S7 Edge.

Are you serious, wow I wasn't aware of that, is this a 100% fact? If so, that is going to be that much more of an inconvenience!! Wouldn't as if it isn't an inconvenience already, the least they could do is waive the tax fee, and be more clear on their recall and exchange policy!

Most of us going through this nightmare are on our third phone in 2 mos.  Note 7 #1, Note 7 #2 and new device chosen to replace the Notes.  We had to pay tax on each device which will be refunded for the devices being returned. Is it ideal, no. I'm just speaking for myself here, but as long as I'm refunded all my money for what I returned I have no problem with it. I just want to finish this off and move on.

I think we were all mislead from Verizon from the beginning when they used the word EXCHANGE. If I buy a  shirt at a dept. store and come to see it is damaged I go back and exchange it for a new one and not pay any more money. Or if I simply decide I don't like the shirt I take it back and exchange it for something else of different value the credit card gets adjusted accordingly. I think we have all come to realize Verizon doesn't do exchanges. For each device I have received during this ordeal I had to accept a new agreement, pay the tax as if were a brand new purchase. Then the refund for those returned devices come later. To me that is not an exchange.

it is ridiculous that we as the consumer, and being loyal verizon customers, are having to come out of pocket for the sales taxes. If they are going to refund the taxes from when the N7 was originally purchase then why not waive the exchange sales taxes for  the inconvenience, at least Until this has been settled altogether, and then the retailers get their money back from samsung that way,   we aren't the ones who have signed contracts with Samsung.  With that being said, it is Samsung who has offered everyone the credited amount, even if we choose to go with something other than another Samsung device. They still include a $25 credit. However Verizon wants to ensure they aren't losing on this matter in any way.

I am not at all a difficult or vengeful person, but I am considering returning the device and switching carriers, at that point how do they plan on crediting me for their mishap, I guess they would probably just blow it off, I truly feel Verizon has ZERO conscious to their customers.

Dnip8767: You have summarized the beauty of double entry bookkeeping and Verizon applies it rigorously. However in my case I had to pony up for an upgrade fee as well. That is upfront payment of upgrade fee plus sales tax. Let recount how many times I had to do this - First when I bought my beautiful brand spanking new Note7. Second when I returned my first Note 7 and got my interim replacement phone, which was a S7 (upgrade fee + sales tax on S7). Third time when I was informed my 'good' Note 7 was ready for pickup, again upgrade fee+ sales tax on the 'good' Note 7. Finally, I had to exchange the banned 'good' Note 7 and this time I got the S7E. So again I paid upgrade fee + sales tax. That was a total of four times.

Dont get me wrong, all the extraneous upgrade fees and sales taxes will be refunded in due course (maybe up to 2 billing cycles). But it is a matter of pay now collect later for the consumer. Hopefully all customers have the credit card resource to absorb this 'temporary' hit.

And guess what - Verizon phone sales for October will show a favorable but a misleading spike. Wall Street loves this, so be watching the market stock prices to see if it plays out favorably for Verizon.

this is ridicules I had to take my 3 note 7s in because of the recall had to pay taxes on the new phones the manager of the store could not get my taxes refunded and said he had to email Verizon a month later new recall so here I am paying again and still no refund for the taxes I have paid and to top it off my bill is usually around 300 last month it was over 500 no overages I have no clue what they are doing other than ripping me off I have contacted a lawyer

Unfortunately you do have to pay the sales tax for any new device. Verizon shouldn't charge for the $20 upgrade fees. I bought 2 note 7s online paid sales taxes .

The first recall I exchanged for replacement note 7 did not pay anything as it was a true exchange, all the credits was done on the bill. The second recall I returned note 7 and got g7 instead and I had to pay the sales tax. The only credit I'm due now is the $40 upgrade fees I was charged in error and the note 7 accessories, and the loyalty  $100 credit . My credit card was refunded the original purchase amount for the original note 7s as I had a 2 year contact, but now Im on a payment agreement.
