Note 4 won't hold a charge

Hello,

My Note 4 will not hold a charge it shuts down at 43% saying it needs to be charged. I just got this particular phone in August 2016 and its already a bust it seems. How do you fix this? Wants wrong with it. I hate the blue screen that pops up each time I unlock it. My previous Note 4 did not do that. This phone seems like it changes on its own.

Latishawatts, it concerns us to hear that your phone is shutting down at 43%. That's no where near the battery needing to be charged. When did this start? Where there any recent changes made to the device when this started? When you unlock your phone, does the screen stay blue for a period of time and then are able to view the different icons?

Thank You,

the note4 is old technology, even though you bought it used in august '16.

If you live near a Best Buy store with Samsung onsite you can take it there for them to look at.

In the meantime I'd try a Factory Data Reset. It is worth trying. You can also use the Software Repair Assistant.

'Old technology'...the Note 4 is STILL one of the BEST devices on the PLANET! And maybe someday someone will have a real answer besides 'do a factory reset'! That's great for anyone who leaves the device as it was when it came out of the box, but it's unreasonable, and NOT 'worth a try' for those of us who actually configure our devices with keyboards, launchers, apps galore, wallpapers, change and configure settings etc etc...for those people, me included, that's NOT an option, it's a LAST RESORT, a complete nightmare that some people just don't get! Tech support LOVES telling you to do a factory reset, it saves them from actually needing to do their jobs and have some knowledge, which I suspect they LACK because that's their ONLY answer! So, here are two things you can try. Wipe cache partition (easy, Google it, I don't have time to explain it), then remove the battery, press and HOLD the power button for AT LEAST 60 SECONDS, then reinsert battery, power on and charge, this fixes the issue in some cases. It doesn't hurt to do this every month as a routine maintenance item either. The second thing, which I did (the first thing worked for some people I know, but didn't for me, probably because my battery was simply ready to be replaced) is to replace the battery. Avoid e ba y and am a zon, I got a brand new battery on wal mart dot com for under twelve doll ars, had the NFC coil (the fake ones don't), shipped from within the US, and had it in a couple days, not weeks. New battery solved the issue for my 'old technology' device. It may be old, but at least it's allowed on airplanes!
