Optimize has always been a part of the OS update for me, but I can see where the removal of apps or permissions of those apps comes into play with the disabling of apps ability to control certain functions.

Seems to be a preemptive maneuver to remove apps that will potentially cause the update to fail, I had 221 apps that it optimized during update 1 and only 194 during update 2, so it removed a bunch that are considered incompatible with Lollipop.

On a wiped phone I had 24 apps optimized and after the 2nd part of 5.0.2 for G2 I had 174 optimized.....still on a wiped phone.

cgage0823 so far it is looking really good, I charged up after all the updating and post update updating of apps but after that the battery usage graph is looking pretty flat and the device battery temperature is the normal temperature for my device. I'll report back again after I get some more use and it gets a chance to adjust to the new OS.

Now that a few days have passed the battery usage is at least as good as it was prior to the update, I'm still showing close to 22 hours of time left after a few hours of use. The first couple of days it wasn't as good, it would get hot at times etc. but definitely has settled down now.

I went ahead and did the update Friday evening. (And yes being skeptical ) At first the battery wasn't all that great, but after it has adjusted it seems to be back to normal. Going most the day on a charge, getting 2.5 to 3.0 hours of on screen time. It does seem a little smoother, with not as much lag, still has some from time to time, but not as bad.
At this point I don't have much complain about. If I come across something I will be sure to update.
