I upgraded my Galaxy 8 yersterday and can't get my home screen to display the time properly at night. I use my phone as my alarm clock and am used to seeing a dimmed time if I wake up during the night. Now it goes completely black unless I push the botton on the right side. This was not an issue until the upgrde yesterday (6/6/19).
This is definitely now how your phone should be working after an update, Krypton2815. I personally rely heavily on my phone, clock, and alarm. I'm sorry this has changed since the update.
Is the clock set to Automatic or Manual? Please try powering the phone OFF for 3-minutes, and then back ON. Let's see if anything changes.
