Issue with prepaid phone

I have been a Verizon customer for nearly a decade, but am new to having a prepaid plan. Last month, I purchased a Samsung Gusto 2 for my prepaid device. A series of cracks developed on the front screen (when the phone is in the closed position), although the phone still works. I would be willing to pay another $50 for a new device out of pocket, but the nearest Verizon store was adamant that it would have to be sent back to the manufacturer and I would have to pay $200-$300 instead. This does not make any sense to me, and I cannot understand why I should be pressured into spending that much money. Please advise; thank you.

I'm not familar with how prepaid does their processes but it has to be the same as postpaid, sounds like they want you to go the manufacturer and be charged that damaged device fee.  I don't get why you can't just take another prepaid phone off the shelf and just activate that phone on your number instead like you would in postpaid.  Good luck with everything.

Instead of going to store for a phone, purchase a prepaid phone from Walmart. You can activate your phone with your same number.

I guess my other question is that since I have already paid for cell phone air time, would that transfer over with getting another phone from another location?

Yes. You will use your phone number and security code to add the new phone to your exisitng account. Dont forget to use the backup assistant so your contacts will transfer to the new phone.

You can actually even if they create an account for you. Just call customer service up and have them disconnect your device. They will then switch out the phone with your other account. Simple as that, and like Hazegurlie said you can actually just go to Walmart Bestbuy, or Dollar General get a phone and actually just activate the phone on your existing numebr through *22898.

Troubleshooting with a prepaid account has been a substantial problem for me since changing to it. The customer service and access to information has been vastly inferior. I had to contact them yesterday on a separate problem that I am having and things were only made worse.
