I have a Samsung Galaxy S8. When I try to turn on Mobile Hotspot, it says "Checking subscription status..." for a few seconds, then it says "Unable to connect. Data connection not available." How do I fix this?
P.s. sometimes it give the message "fatal device error".
Tried all the normal fixes: restarted, reset and airplane mode. Worked 6 hours ago now it does not.
Have you confirmed your plan has the Mobile Hotspot feature included in the plan?

My S8 is giving the same error. My Asus tablet is working (what I'm using right now). I tether my phone because it's more stable than the tablet as a hotspot. Following.
My S8 is working, USB tethered now. While following the VZW trouble shooter, instead of soft restarting, I hard restarted. While it was off, I plugged and unplugged the USB cable a couple times. Not sure what I did or didn't do but it's tethered now.

I have been having the same problem. I have the S9 and I was able to use the hotspot yesterday for my tablet but now it won't connect. I checked my account and I also have not used any where near all of my hotspot data
