Can I switch devices with someone if I have a past due balance?

I damaged my phone screen & i know someone who will switch phones with me.  He is a verizon customer and will give me his, which I will connect & he will take mine & connect.  Seems pretty straight forward.  The problem is I have a past due with Verizon of about 1 months bill & they gave me a payment plan to get things fixed up.  (I switched to Verizon due to work 3 months agoo and we got laid off a few days later.  Roomate ran up $300 data bill on my neat new phone thinking he was attached to our wifi.  Awesome !   Phone is active & i am using it, will my friend who switches phones with me have a problem?  I am going to first connect his to my account.  Thanks for any help

Thanks so much for contacting us with your question, coldweather456. We can understand wanting to get a phone active on your account that is not damaged.
You are able to activate that phone on your account as long as the phone is not on any negative list or associated with an account that is in a negative status (written off).
You can follow these steps to get the phone activated http://vz.to/YcGBZy.
