Our phones meter data COMPLETELY INDEPENDENT of what ever carrier you use.  No carrier can control your phone.  (IPhone must be reset manually With your bill cycle, or add an app) 

below are Verizon record and my phone's record.  A few kilobytes apart, which is as it should be.

Our wonderful community has provided some great information on how data is used and recorded. Just to expand on this, we record all data that the phone requests and sends. There is absolutely no way for us to "change" the amount of data your devices are reporting as used. Determining what is using data on a phone can be challenging with how many applications are being used at one time. Our community members have shared great screenshots of how you can find this information on your devices. What plan are you and your husband on? Do you only have the 2 lines active? When did your billing cycle start?
