Our Device Payment Plan is suppose to be waived

Did anyone else get told this and it didn't happen?

We recently switched from Sprint to Verizon, with the Moto Z3 promotion that said the phones were free. Yet, on our first bill, we're being charged $22 for each device? Bringing this up with their online support, they said that's normal and that those charges should be credited (dropped) after two billing cycles...but that doesn't sound right to me.

Why not just have those excluded from the beginning. What stops the system from saying, "Well, you're locked into paying them, because you've already paid for them in two of the cycles"

You see what I'm asking here?

The promotion was likely for Bill credits over 24 months with the device payment agreement to make the phones essentially free. Since you recently activated service with VZW, the bill credits might have not started yet as they can take 2 to 3 billing cycles after purchase to kick in. When they do, you will get credits for the previous payments you already received and paid for.

If you choose to pay the remaining balance of the device payment agreement off early, you will lose any credits you haven't received yet and the total balance to pay is the amount remaining before the credits are applied.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

As was pointed out, you get a bill credit to "offset" the monthly bill for your device payment. Normally, your bill credits will start appearing on your bill after 1-2 billing cycles. Have you been with Verizon for that long? Keep in mind, those monthly payments WILL stay on your bill once you start receiving the bill credits, it simply means your bill will show a charge of $x in one location and a credit of $x in another location. The 2 charges/credits should be of equal amounts and will cancel each other out for a net effect on your bill of $0.

We switched during that FREE Moto Z3 promotion last month.

The way the current bill is setup, it looks like its still going to charge us $21 for each phone. Its kind of nerve racking, because I'm sitting here thinking, "Is their online system even going to register that we're NOT suppose to pay off these devices? Or basically mess us for the next two years from a false promise?""

I know that sounds kind of harsh..but other than Sprint's service wasn't working for us,  we also switched because it was promised to be cheaper. We were paying $132 with Sprint and Verizon said they could get us to $95 after discounts and promotions kick in.

The bill credits for the "FREE" phone takes 1 to 2 billing cycles after the purchase to kick in. When it does, you will get credits backdated to cover the payments you already paid.

Just chill dude. Yes you bill is going to show a $21( or whatever it is ) charge then a credit fo the same amount. The reason they do that is so people don't sign up for free phones then leave a week later.

There's no such thing as a free phone and the couple bill cycles is true. No carrier is going to give away a phone worth hundreds without getting anything in return.

You get charged the cost of the device followed with a credit to either offset the cost or cover it in full. If you decide to leave before 24 months, the remaining balance that would have been owed becomes your responsibility as monthly credits would cease.  This is why you get credited monthly and not all up front. With fraud being common in the cell phone industry, there is no incentive to do so.

All free phone deals, BOGO or 1/2 price deals work this way.   (That’s for all carriers)  they have to keep you long enough to profit on service.

To get a free phone you have to stick out the full installment terms to get all the credits, which offset your monthly installments.  Credits start in 2 to3 months with back credits, as long as you pay on time.  Cancel and you owe any remainder.
