Andirobinson it shows up as the option to click to decide what you want to do, after clicking on that it brings up the menu for the other options to choose from. The top one is the LG Verizon software upgrade assistant. You click that and follow the directions I left.

Biggdubbya This is what pops up when I plug in my phone.  I consider myself pretty technologically-inclined, but this has me stumped.  I have searched my phone for the Assistant and it is not anywhere that I can see.Capture.JPG

ohgeewiz  Thanks.  I have the correct version for the upgrade, but I can't get the Verizon Software Upgrade Assistant to run when I plug in my phone.

I think I am done playing with this.  I downloaded the LG Verizon Driver from the LG site and that didn't work.  I have done everything I can think of.  I really wanted to get 5.0.1 today (yes, I know it looks like we can get it OTA tomorrow).  Smiley Sad  I have to get set up my husband's new laptop!  If anyone else has any other suggestions, I am open to anything that might work.

The thing for me is, when this goes through the process of detecting, it just ends up blank does not even show my device or software version.  Nothing.  The drivers are installed and I make sure I am on MTP (media sync). it was either that or PTP which doesn't recognize my device.

Well,  after getting completely frustrated I decided to chat with a rep who stated that there is no official release to the masses of 5.0.1 for the G3. Couldn't explain how some on this forum and on Android Central have received it via the upgrade assistant if they are not rooted.  Has me baffled.  Lg site says a software update available as of 3/27 but that isn't carrier specific I don't think.  Someone else pointed to 4/13 but I didn't see it.
