I thought about the screen time out and the phone lock issue and have been making sure that before I put it in my pocket that the screen has timed out and it's locked. The screen time out is 15sec, and the password lock is also set to 15 sec. The screen is off when I put it in my pocket, and there is nothing else in the pocket. The only think that I've noticed through any given day is that it seems to happen much more frequently when I'm outside on a very hot day.

Thanks for mentioning that it mostly happens on very hot days. I'd forgotten that all cell phone manufacturers do give a minimum and maximum temperature range for optimum performance. Anything below the minimum or above the maximum...

I know how important it is to have your phone lock screen be reliable so you can preserve your battery life. I do want to dig a bit deeper, as I appreciate the additional details that you have provided. Now, do you happen to keep any other items in your pocket with your device that could potentially be triggering the screen from becoming active? How many times a day is this happening on average? Does this happen when the phone is not inside of your pocket?

There is nothing else in the pocket... It happens several times during the day, mostly in the heat of the day. I have not seen it happen when it's not in the pocket however I do notice that the phone get hotter than normal when talking on the phone. I have swapped the battery but have the same symptoms.

Make sure all the Smart Lock features are set to off. If Trusted Places, Trusted Devices, or On Body Detection are on, then your phone will turn on in your pocket when you're near the location / device or moving around.

Thanks for the link ChrisM_VZW. It reminded me of when I first started setting up my phone back on Dec 2014. I'll leave well enough alone. That link should however help Jsecle. Thank you.
