Hello!

I was looking into buying a kin.. I know it's 2013 and all..

but I need something that won't use data..

I heard that you can use the wifi but not use data as long as there is wifi..

If this is true is there a way to block data from charging you when you are not in wifi?

would love to hear back soon......

Wow looking to buy a Kin? That's a blast from the past! Yes the Kin can connect to a wifi network! You would not need a data package with that device. Yes we can set it up not to use our mobile network only wifi.

  Did you get your Kin? Is it the Kin 1 or Kin 2? I would like to know what you think of it, and if you had any issues setting it up without having a data plan. I am considering one for my daughter but when I called the Verizon customer service to ask about data I was told that a data plan was required. 

JoeL_VZW,

I was told that I could block data use, but that I would still have to pay $29.99 for the data plan... Was I misinformed? Or is that because I have a older plan and am not on the share everything plan?

The KIN line of phone don't require a data especially not a smartphone data plan.

Hi! uhm I have had the Kin 1m for about a month! I absolutely love it!

as for the data plan deal?

I call 1-800 Verizon and get to the menu board where it asks to swap phones

then when I press that I hit zero to talk to a representative.

I just gave them the Hex ID out the back and asked them to put a data block

on my account..

they did it no problem!
