Jetpack data purchase impossible

I let my data run out and thought.. sure, go buy a prepaid card and call to get it "applied" to my jetpack hotspot.  That was over 3 hours ago.

I don't have any other verizon gear.. no phones.. no home plans.. nada, just the jetpack.

There is no where on the website to just ADD TO CART  a jet pack plan.  I could buy another jetpack that comes with data from the website.. but a data card-- all by itself - why would anyone want that? duh

I had to create a verizon account.. just what I needed.. another account to keep up with.  Why would I go prepaid..no contract if I have to register to do anything.. including ask questions??!!

Now I have a V account.. didn't help with anything.  I tried to add a CC to my account.. from my PC.  This is the message

To add a credit/debit card to your account, please sign in to the mobile/broadband account from your device.  My device is a hotspot that won't flippin work until I add data.. which I need my card to buy..

website design fail!

A girl on one of my 3 phone calls said to go to my.jetpack  (no dot com.. no dot net.. just my.jetpack) to add data and apply it to my device - which results in a DNS error.  Then she put me on hold some more.. supposedly to get a supervisor to process a payment for data over the phone

WHAT A NOVEL IDEA!  sheesh

that failed.. she came back.. talked over me like she could not hear me anymore (loud call center or just didn't wanna deal with it?) and hung up on me.

It's no wonder verizon has such crap reviews every where on customer service.

I have a prepaid account - only on the one hotspot device.

I use it on the road with a samsung tablet.

Why is it so difficult to come to the verizon site and just buy a prepaid refill card for the data?  Wait.. it's not difficult, it's impossible.

Why must we register a full account for prepaid devices?  That's the charm of those things.. buy and go, no nonsense.  No one could even tell me how to apply a new prepaid card to this device had I gotten one at a best buy without a verizon phone to do it.

If there is time I plan to stop in a verizon store tomorrow before my appointment and see if being face to face with someone will make any difference.

Thanks handsintheair for the information! Which prepaid plan option did you have? As we do have two types to choose from, ($45.00 & $60.00) that all you would need to do is pay for the package again on the same device and it will start your month over. Stopping in a store is a good idea as well but as long as you are signed up for a My Verizon account, you should also be able to get more data online through the internet.

A Prepaid Jetpack has three data plans:

$15/250MB/7days

$60/3GB/30days

$90/10GB/30days

You can obtain one through any Verizon store or use a number of refill cards such as this one:

http://www.walmart.com/ip/Verizon-Broadband-Cards-15-60-90/21269693

You can add the card through Prepaid Customer Service (888) 294-6804 in one call and then purchase and activate a data plan with a second card speaking to a CS/TS agent.

You need to have your MyVerizon account activated to use the card through the computer. Any Prepaid CS agent can set it up and email you the password. Once setup you’ll be able to login to the Broadband Portal when your current data plan expires, to add money using a credit card or refill card, and then purchase and activate a data plan.

The key phrase here is "SHOULD" be able to.  Every time I try to add data to this jetpack it gets harder and the run around longer and the number of people I need to talk to increases.  I open the account and just get error messages and to try again later.  What is so hard about having a simple place to add data and pay for it.  I did not realize how easy my other plan from another carrier is to use.  It has certainly stopped me from switching my phones over to Verizon!
