Has anyone had problems downloading programs through an Ellipsis Jetpack?

The last ime I typed this into an “ASK” box, it disappeared.  One more try….

I’m setting up a new small business in an area of Alaska with few choices for internet connectivity. As there is a Verizon tower across the street, I went to them for a data-only solution, and was sold an Ellipsis Jetpack 4GLTE (MHS800L) and a data plan.  I purchased a brand new higher-end Dell computer with Windows 7 Pro, and am connected to the Jetpack through a Linksys TP-Link wireless adapter in a USB port. I  get 5 bars of 4GLTE connectivity (Excellent), and blazing speed (~11 Mbps).

My problem is that my downloads freeze when obtaining certain basic programs and software.  For instance, I was able to get Firefox, Chrome, Skype, and printer utilities without a hitch, but simply cannot download Java or the Norton security packages that I need.  The downloader (in all browsers: Firefox, IE 11, Chrome) will jump out and near instantaneously hit 90- or 98% status.  Then it FREEZES.  I have tried dozens of times, even deleting previous attempts as some have suggested.

I disconnected my computer and took it to a geek store where we successfully downloaded Java through the TP-Link via their in-store wireless network.  This showed that it is not a computer problem, not an operating system (Windows) problem, and not a browser problem.  It has to be something to do with the Jetpack’s connection to the tower.

I have spent hours on the phone with Verizon Technical Support, where, after thoroughly explaining the issue, I am asked “Have you tried rebooting your computer?”  The Jetpack was diagnosed remotely, and I have gone through both soft and hard Jetpack reset procedures.  I was told to take it to a corporate store where it could be “diagnosed”.  The store had never heard of such a procedure, and had no equipment with which to perform it if they knew what to do.  They did replace the SIM card, and told me to try that.

One of the forums I was reading spoke about how often the wireless “handshake” between the Jetpack and the tower is “reset”, and said that it was possible, if this “handshake reset” occurred during a download, the download would be corrupted, causing it to “freeze”.  Could this be the case?

I really need a solution to this problem.  I am, for the present, tied to some sort of Verizon product or service.  Is there something that would work better?  Do I just have a defective Jetpack?  Please help!

Highmark -

Your Mobile Hotspot experts have arrived to get you downloading your programs onto your computer at flash speeds. The first thing we will need is to make sure the Firmware is up to date on the Jetpack MHS800L. You can find out how with this link. http://vz.to/1iPU22x Please provide the current firmware you have. If you had to perform an update we suggest you try downloading another program and see if issue was resolved.

Thanks for your response, JacobV.  I am running Firmware version 3.3.3.0-17585.  At my.jetpack/ there was no update found, i.e. I have the most current version.

Highmark - Thank you for letting us know your device is up to date. We will continue to work with you to make sure you can download what you want when you want. When you were in the process of downloading the programs did you see if the signal strength went down? Lose connection? If you notice that this is the case you can change channels to avoid interference with other Wi-Fi networks. Check how easy it is to do.  http://vz.to/1QMLQLH

Try this, login to the Jetpack’s web interface, disable IPv6 (see page 33 in the User Guide) and restart the Jetpack.
