Enjoy the crickets, because after over two years with an android phone I have gotten used to it for the updates on all the android phones I have had several since then.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

At this point, when it comes to updates, I consider android phones to be "what you see is what you get".  Rumors have been stirring about an ICS update for months now.

Unless you wake up one morning and find an OTA update you should consider Gingerbread to be as good as it gets.

I HAVE TO AGREE WITH YOU ON THIS. THE HTC ONE X IS SHIPPED WITH ICS 4.0, IT HAS TO BE VERY SIMILAR. THE FUNNY THING IS WHEN ITS ROLLED OUR THE NEXT NEW THING WILL BE RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER. I THINK THEY ARE CALLING IT "JELLY BEAN".... MY NEXT DEVICE IS PROBABLY GONNA BE AN IPHONE AS LONG AS ITS 4G AND HOPEFULLY A LARGER SCREEN. AT LEAST WHEN THEIR SOFTWARE UPDATES ARE RELEASED, ITS AVAILABLE FOR ALL OF THEIR DEVICES.

Things are not as simple as this, try pulling a hard drive out of one computer and simply hook it up in a system with diffrent hardware and see what you get, I guarentee the outcome wont be pretty.

Just because a device looks the same on the outside does not make it the same, as a example on a pc try pulling out a bad video card without removing drivers and place a different card into the system and see what you get, usually system will crash until the old ones are removed and new drivers are installed.  Every diffrence in hardware can cause incompatible software.

The OneX is by no means similar.  It has a different CPU, different GPU, has the improved camera chip, and isn't even running the same version of Sense.

Good God man, nothing was ever PROMISED.  And I don't think you understand the backlash that would come about if HTC or Verizon ever came out and said "Sorry, we tried to get it to you, but we couldn't".  It's not about defending any business, it's about not understanding why in the world people make such a big deal about this.  My Rezound works great as is...wait, worked great while it was still on GB, an update is just icing on the cake.  If yours doesn't work as expected, call tech support and have them send you a new phone.  If it does, what is the big deal????????

Speaking of Android 4 (Ice Cream Sandwich), I just pulled out my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (running ICS 4.0.3) and found that you can not get Blockbuster, any of the Let's Golf apps, or Need for Speed Shift from the Play Store.

When I first got the Rezound, I found that several apps (most notably USA Today) I had from my last droid device were incompatible with Gingerbread 2.3.4.

Could it be that our ICS upgrade is being held up because carrier bloatware is incompatible with ICS 4.0.3?

Say it isn't so Verizon.

Those apps might not be also available in tablet form either.

That might be, but you would think Blockbuster would want to be on tablets too.  When I want to watch Netflix, I find it more pleasing to watch my 7" screen then the Rezound 4" screen.  Before I got my Samsung, I had an unbranded Chinese tablet with pure 4.0.3 on it.  Back then, Netflix was not yet available.  About a month after I got it, Netflix wrote a new app making themselves compatible with 4.0.3.  App compatibility is not Google's concern when they design Android updates.

I was definitely promised that it would be out early next year last November when i ourchased the phone!

Early next year isn't considered the 1st 6 months, it would be the 1st quarter Jan - March

Mid year would be Apr - June

Later next year would be July - Sept

End of Year would be Oct - Dec.

Those are the standard acceptable time frames.

I don't know how you can defend this incompetence,  unless you are employed by one of these companies.

My advice is don't write a check you can't cash
