pixel xl drop signal aka hollow bar
DIAMONDDAVE7676

I have owned my pixel xl for a little over a month and it has been having problems with signal dropping randomly.  I can be sitting still in one place and have a full signal and then all of a sudden the signal will drop and it will show no bars at all.  I have had this happen in several locations the exact same way.  After maybe 10 seconds or sometimes less the signal will jump back up to full bars.  I got the newest update a few days ago and it seems to have made the problem worse.  It gets very aggravating and annoying.  I am not sure if this is a google problem or Verizon problem, but I believe it has been going on for a while.  All of my settings are correct I believe and I am set on LTE/CDMA network.  From what I have seen online on other forums this has been an ongoing problem since the phone was released.  Has anyone heard if there is a fix coming soon for this problem?

Have you tried turning off the HD Voice to see if it makes a difference?

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

HD Voice, also known as Advanced Calling, can be found here on the Google Pixel:

Settings > Wireless & networks > More > Cellular networks > Advanced Calling

There is no fix. I had the Pixel on Verizon for months and had horrible signal. It turns out the problem is the way Verizon has the Pixel configured to receive signal.
Verizon has brought online band 2(1900mhz), and band 4(1700mhz) now. They are much higher in frequency than the old CDMA band(800mhz), and the first LTE band(700mhz). Verizon has programmed their phones not to connect to the strongest signal, but to the fastest signal with the most bandwidth available.  You get much less signal at the higher frequencies(band 2, and 4).

It seems Verizon refuses to admit there is an issue. I went through 4 devices and probably a dozen SIM Cards and it never improved.
