According to page 45 of the user manual, the phone will play:
mp3
m4a
aac
aac+
midi
wav

Not sure what you wanted but there are tons of ringtone apps in Google play store.

They have to be in the right folder sometimes to show up as an available ringtone. A lot of phones limit the length and time also to be used as a ringtone.
