Razr maxx battery not lasting?

i got the razr maxx a few weeks ago, and from what i heard about it people couldnt kill the battery. Well, i got mine expecting the same. when i turned it on, it had about a 70% charge, and died after about 3 hours of setting it up and downloading stuff. i charged it and when it was fully charged i took it off charge and played with it some more, setting more stuff up and seeing what it could do... Anyways now on average it lasts me about 13 hours before it dies. Now, dont get me wrong, the battery life isnt bad. But i dont think its worth all the commotion. i love the razr, & wouldnt trade it for the world, but the battery life isnt that great. or maybe its just mine? did i do something wrong? if so, what can i do to fix it?

You always want to fully charge your phone for at least a good 8 hrs when its new. The type of battery this phone has requires an initial conditioning phase. Its on the so called user manual loaded on the phone. Charge it to 100% and leave it plugged overnight. Many people damage their battery and they need a new one after a year. Battery only has warranty for a year so that is uncool. I wish this had a removable battery. Give me a razor that is a bit fat but with a replaceable battery.

paliibabee,

I am seeing almost 2.5 days per charge. My biggest concern right now is the amount of power consumed by the call feature. For some reason a call seems to drain my battery faster than the display being on, which is really odd. If you have not done to already disable the auto enable wifi feature. I have seen that it drains the battery very fast as it is constantly looking for wifi to connect to.

Regarding initial charge, never believe how it is right out of the box. It usually takes about three charges before the battery shows it's true performance. The best way to train one of these batteries is to power cycle it as close to empty and full as you can three times. Hope this helps otherwise the device might need to be replaced.

My family plan consists of 4 brand new Razr MAXX's and the battery life was 70% when we got them new out of the box. Initially after booting it up and adding accounts, apps, and syncing, they died nearly 2-3 hours later. The a full charge and the battery would die to 20% within 10 hours. I hope after a few battery drains and full recharges the battery will get better, or else i will be returning these defects.

hi, have had my razr maxx about a week... love it BUT, even tho i am charging it overnight, it shuts off w/o warning, has done this x3 now.  lastly this morning completely shut off and i've got it plugged in again, won't respond to "turning it on".  so much for the battery life???!!!  will be heading back to the store to sort this out.

I picked up my new razr on Tuesday, and charged it overnight.  The next day I started playing with it, nothing major, maybe on it for an hour and within 10 hours it was red and needed to be charged again.  This has happened everyday so far. I am hoping it gets better.  I always charge it overnight, turned off.

this phone will last for 2.5 days if you dont touch it and leave the screen off the whole time...lol...this whole hype about the battery is a big joke.  I am on my second one and it is no better than the first.  When I talked to Verizon Service and mentioned the 21 hour talk time claim, they hit me with the line 'Now sir you have to understand the 21 hours was acheived in a lab setting under ideal conditions'...huh???...what a scam?  next they tell you to turn the 4g off to conserve the battery.  Why the heck would I buy a 4g phone if I cant use the 4g functionality.  I keep the screen dimmed...again  why have this big 'beautiful' screen if you have to have it dim so the battery wont die.  I keep the wifi off and the gps off.  I hope others start calling Verizon's/Motorola's bluff on this and stat posting actual battery life.  I had a lot of people tell me to stick with the iphone(which I had had for 6 years with no problem on ATT).  I wish I had listened...

I use about 4gb per month and would consider myself a moderate user and I get about 2 days. If you phone is getting real warm when it dies that fast it's probably some software causing the problem. Check your awake time and make sure it's similar to screen on time (should be more but not a ton more), also check and make sure you don't have "evbridge" taking up a ton of % in your battery use, this is a glitch from using the phone with a dock that's causing massive battery drain (just started happening to me).

Edit: I should mention I do absolutely nothing to save power getting that 2 day battery life....bluetooth/4g are ALWAYS on and I have a lot of screen time too....it's a huge battery in this phone and it can really take a beating...if yours is going dead that quick you have a problem.
