Hate to display my ignorance, but I do not know what "Froyo" means.
I am interested in purchasing a DroidX but think that I should wait until it's available with the 2.2 I've been reading about.
Advice, please?

Froyo is the name Google gave to their upgraded operating system 2.2. Rumor has it that it should be available to Droid X around the end of this month (September), however, I, myself, am not holding my breath.

Froyo is short for frozen yogurt, google's code name for android 2.2. They name all their os versions after desserts. When the X gets the update, it will eventually be pushed to all users so it's up to you on whether or not to wait. I did hear that they may be out of stock so you may not get it for a week or so anyway.
