Choolan you said, "when I missed multiple texts from the same person."

Why not see if that that one person had accidentally put a 1 in front your phone number like is required on wireline phones.  Just a thought because otherwise all was okay for a couple of months except for this person.

It's happened from multiple people, and it's completely random.  This one person I'm referring to is my girlfriend, and I know she doesn't have a 1 in front of my phone number.  And if she did, why would 98% of her texts be delivered, but the rest seemingly fail?

I first had this problem on my Samsung Fascinate.  It led to missed appointments and a big fight with my boyfriend.  Of course, I felt silly when it turned out it was MY mistake since I never got his texts!

After HOURS with multiple tech support people of varying tiers, I finally talked to someone who understood my issue and actually CARED.  She was able to get me a new phone (not just a refurbished Fascinate like all the others offered) at the contract price.

I got the Droid Charge and everything seemed to be working ok for the first 2 months.  JUST IN CASE, I still checked my usage details on my online account.  This week, the problem started happening again.  I noticed that my account showed I received a text from a friend that never showed up on my phone.  Yesterday, I almost missed an appointment because when I texted to confirm, I never got a response.  Luckily, I stopped by the place just in case and ran into the person who showed me on his phone that he had sent a response...I just never got it.

It's frustrating because text messaging is my primary form of communication.

I scoured the internet and I ran across an Android App called "Ghostly SMS" that's supposed to address this issue.  I've only had it for about 6 hours, but it already discovered a text that my "stock messaging app" (little green icon) didn't receive.

This app may be worth checking out.  From what I can tell, the problem isn't with a particular phone like I originally thought.  It's supposedly a glitch in Android phones.

I have no idea why Verizon seems so clueless when there are SO many complaints on THEIR OWN COMMUNITY FORUMS and other places on the internet.

I too have a Charge and have this problem on and off quite often.

I've found it has something to do with an app that was downloaded.  Apparently the app is causing a glitch with messages coming through.

I have Announcify and I can HEAR the message come through but when I check my texts there are no new messages there.

I have to figure out when it started and uninstall any apps since.  This seems to clear it up.

I have the same issue with my call log not registering calls after a certain app is downloaded.  Then I must do the same thing.

Thanks for the tip on the Ghostly SMS app! I have had this problem of missing texts on my Droid Charge for almost a year now and it drives me crazy. I've given up on calling Verizon since they were not able to solve the problem. Hopefully this app will help.

ALL,

If you are referring to NOT receiving text messages from your friend's phones contact them to see if they have caller ID blocking enabled and they might have put *82 in front of your phone number.  See my comment below.

If they have caller ID blocking turned ON and subsequently they have added *82 in front of your phone number because they want you to see who they are; the *82 blocks the text msg to your phone number because the text messaging network/system can only handle 10 digit numbers.  It's the Verizon 1RXTT network.

New subject:  OTOH, for what it's worth, if you want to block your caller ID to a single voice-call phone number just put *67 in front of that phone number but remember you will not be able to text message to that number.

I have been having this problem over the last year and a half. It started on my new Droid X. After being told it was a failing antenna, I bought a Droid Incredible 2 and almost immediately started having the same problem. I have had it happen with mobile network turned on, Wi-Fi turned on, in network and roaming. It has become a huge stress in my life and I am about done with it. I have had no success going to official Verizon Stores or calling customer service.

Everybody,

Here is another idea.  Maybe your phone is deleting the text messages as soon as they arrive???

Do this to TRY to fix it.  At the Home screen Touch the ICON Messaging and then touch the MENU button.  Next touch Settings.  Now at the top of that screen UN-check Delete old messages.  Also reset both the Text Message limit and Multimedia message limit to at least 50 or greater.  Make sure Auto-retrieve and Notifications are checked.  And finally take a look-see to ensure that you do NOT have 50 or more messages already stored in you phone.  If so set those message limits to 100 or greater.

Please let me know if this fixes your probem...okay???

PS,  Upon further reflection IF when you first got to "Delete Old Messages" it was ALREADY UN-checked then RE-check it.  Possibly, because if it was unchecked for  a long time there might be a glut of old messages blocking the smooth flow of messages in and out of your phone.

I guess this message thing is  game of guessing so who knows.

Kdramanut,

Because it took 2 months to restart again take a look at my latest post dated April 15th.  Take special note to the PS.
