Make sure you have your GPS turned on.  After this if the Navigation ever hangs in Google, simply exit out of the program and re-enter.  It has only hung on me once, and that was before the 2.2 update.

Why not just use Google Navigation (free) instead of the $10/mo. rip off ???  It works very well ... but YES, it requires GPS to be toggled ON to function properly. I believe VZN NAV also requires GPS ...

thats cool but I was not talking about the 10 bucks a month VZ nav but just the regular nav that came on the phone before the froyo update ... it is in the apps with the blue arrow icon that kinda looks like the original star trek badge

The "star trek badge " is the Google Navigation.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

kittybatz11,

I regularlly sit in my living rm. w/ closest window approx. (5') away from me & if I'm know I'm going to be going somewhere & want to get an idea of milage & time, I'll fire up the nav. (either vz or google, I use & prefer vz nav most of the time) & about (98%) of time I have no problem getting gps signal. Of course, I'm sure the accuracy could be off slightly due to being inside, & that it's better to have a direct view of sky, for better accuracy. Also vz doesn't have to have gps on, as it will locate & nav off of network from cell towers, as long as ur getting a strong signal. Google will not, it has to have gps running. Though, again w/ vz the issue of accuracy will definite be more accurate w/ gps running.

Or if you only want directions, just use google maps and plug in the addresses
