Very displeased with latest update

Ever since my phone was updated last week, it seems as though it has been on a downward slope as far as my liking of my phone is going.

 

Using such apps as the camera, music player, and even my contacts, have been changed to where it is down right terrible. Only every third picture works, songs stop playing 30 seconds into them, and erased the option of having a duplicate number in contacts, as to keep facebook numbers separate from phone contacts.

 

Then there is the battery life, or the absence of battery life. The phone is dead or on it's death bed sooner than before the update.

 

Does anybody have any suggestions?! Please help!! I want my phone back to how it was before, back before the stupid update.

I think you (and other new-comers) would seriously benefit by simply using the Search function of this forum - the rectangular box up above.  You seem to have way to many issues going on that will make it hard for many of us to help - short of the magic bullet -- Do a Factory Reset..  For individual or on-off problems, your issue likely has already been documented (and probably several times).  This OS update has been out for nearly 5 months now and we've all been through the issues.

 

So start there - SEARCH ... after that, I would do the "CLEAR CACHE" procedure ... and then after that a FACTORY RESET ..  Some have even suggested to do the FACTORY RESET before ANY OS update of this size ...  Personally I've never had to and narrowed down each of my problems to a bad APP.

 

Let us know if you have trouble finding anything specific to your single issues and we'll try to give you some direction.

Sorry to inform you that it is not possible to revert back to the previous build of the OS before the update....  Out of curiousity when you did the update did you try doing the hard reset before updating or did you update with the device configured with all apps and custom settings?  I ask because sometimes 3rd party apps cause issues with a software update because a number of the apps modify the system and restricted the update to write data to areas of the OS that is required and this causes issues..

 

Try backing up and hard resetting and see if the device works better for you..

 

Preferred method

  1. From a home screen, select App menu (located in the lower right).
    App menu
  2. Select Settings.
    NoteIf the application icon is missing, select App menu filter (located at the top) then select All apps.
    Settings
  3. Select Privacy.
    Privacy
  4. Uncheck Automatic Restore and Select Factory Data Reset.
    Factory data reset
  5. Select Reset Phone.
    NoteIf presented, enter the current passcode or draw the unlock pattern.
    Reset Phone
  6. Select Erase Everything.
    Erase Everything
  7. Refer to Initial Activation and Setup.

I need a supervisor to get invovled with my ongoing Droid X mobile hotspot (not working) .  I have called Verizon 4 times, and have been to Tier 2 support with Motorola twice.  The hot spot worked great until i did a phone system update 4.5.605 (android 2.3.3).  Now after activating the hot spot, the phone "locks up" after 10-15 minutes of use.  The FINAL solution was to send me a new phone at full price!
I would be HAPPY to pay for a new phone, but at special pricing.
I do not think the DroidX is broke , it is a software issue, not a broken phone. I realize I am a small customer, but I have been with verizon, since before it was verizon (approximately 1989)....please help

So VZW is willing to replace your phone if you pay FULL price for a replacement phone? They shouldn't be doing that, but rather sending you a replacement under warranty at no cost. It would be a refurbished/certified like new DX, but at no cost to you.

 

Unless they gave you the option to change your phone from a DX to something else and because of your contract terms, you have to pay full price for a different ohone.

 

Your explanation is a bit vague....

YES, Cody. The bombardment of all these update questions that have been discussed over and over are too much. I don't even check the forums for days, anymore. Deja vu and monotonous all at one time.

yea, I honestly don't understand why the GB update is just NOW going out to a lot of new people..  very strange.  Many of us have been already looking forward to the FIX updates to the GB release, while others are still getting THAT one.    weird.
