Unable to access a single website with data network (with details galore)

I have been using the default browser on a droid X to access a website on my web-server for weeks but 3 days ago the website became unavailable (showing the "Web page not available" message).  Every other domain on the internet seems to work just fine. I then found out that other websites hosted on my server could not load on the droid. I checked the Apache log files and determined that no inbound http connects were being received on my server.

So it seems like a connection was not being established between my droid X and my server using the default browser at all.  Then I downloaded a Ping (icmp) app off the market and pinged my server IP and bang, a response. Then I pinged the domain name and received a quick response, meaning that both a connection was possible and that DNS was resolving correctly.

Remembering that Opera browsers use compression and route requests through their servers I thought this could bypass any gateway or proxy Verizon might have in place. The website loaded quickly and completely on the Opera Mini browser.

I called Verizon technical support and got through (a bunch of ads) to a nice agent who could not identify any problems on his terminal. He helpfully navigated to my website on his droid X and it worked perfectly. I think he said that he was on the east coast so at least its working there. But there was nothing else he could do so...

At this point I decided to stop by my local Verizon store. I had 3 employees attempting to load my website on their various phones with no success. When we attempted to load it on their terminal (LAN) computers it loaded fine. Every Android, and MS phone in the store failed to access my website. The website even failed to load on their wireless-USB cards in the store.

When it came to Blackberry, however, it worked perfectly. Blackberry being a service where all traffic is routed through their own servers.

The local Verizon employees where stumped but did not have any clue who to escalate this issue to the Verizon organization.  When I suggested that they must have some sort of internal ticket system to the network engineers and admins they said they did not know of one.

So I am stumped, why did my website (server)  suddenly be unable to load on the Verizon data network (excluding the east coast, maybe) ?

My guess is that is had something to do with a web proxy or gateway Verizon might have in place between my droidX and the internet that stop packets from getting to my server. I could not find a traceroute app on the market which would be helpful.

Also here is the kicker (but might be unrelated), the IP address my droidX obtains to communicate with the internet come up as Blacklisted.  Why would Verizon sell me a service that used IP address that appear on internet Blacklists and filters?

Check out your own IP. Just google something like: "blacklist ip check" on your droid.

I really hope this forum can help. Could some of you help be by trying to load my website your droid default browsers and let me know the results. Also if you have any ideas please share.

I am on the west coast (manteca, ca) and am able to load your www.realscape3d.com website. I see three different landscape pictures and and login box. I am using a Droid X.

All you should see is 3 images and a login box. So it works on the west coast. I am in Billings, Montana so we are narrowing down regions. Thank you so much for the test. I am anxious to see more results.

By any chance, did you try hitting the menu - refresh route when you get the error on the web page?   I had it happen to me a while back and found the cache aspect with the error was loading, and all it needed was a refresh.    JohnEB2

Thanks for the suggestion but thats did not have an effect.  Also according to the raw apache logs the request never makes it to the server.

Doesn't work for me. Stays stuck on loading.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Have you attempted to use another browser?  Give it a shot on the Skyfire browser free in marketplace.  Skyfire browser works similar to Blackberry in that your activity runs through skyfire's servers before it hits you.

Anyone in colorado? Maybe its a regional issue.
